We got some interesting book news via the social networks today.
On the Star Wars Books Facebook page, a reader asked if the first installment of Paul Kemp’s upcoming duology is still scheduled to be released this year. Frank Parisi replied,
We’re not yet ready to talk about Paul’s duology. What I can say is that it’s a very ambitious project; the first one will not come out this year (unfortunately) as he’s taking his time to construct the story (fortunately).
Paul Kemp himself linked to the article on his Twitter account, saying,
SW books calls my next Star Wars project (the duology) “very ambitious.” Given my stress level, I’m gonna agree. ;-)
In other news, Tim Zahn posted an update on his upcoming Star Wars project on his Facebook page.
While most of the details (including the title) will have to wait until an official announcement is made (which I’m told will be sometime next month), I *have* been authorized to release a few tidbits concerning my now-officially-approved upcoming Star Wars novel.
First, it will be be set in the classic movie era.
Second, it will be an Ocean’s Eleven-type heist caper.
And third, it will star everyone’s favorite smuggler, Han Solo.Further details to come.
I, for one, hope this is some iteration of the long-anticipated smuggler novel. We can dream, right? ;) (via)

I don’t think there’s a needs to have anymore stories about Han Solo other than his Academy days. There is already a trilogy and an Adventures Novels that basically tells his whole life up to episode four. If the people at Del-ray keep this up the chronology will get even worse than it already has thanks to GL and his crap of TV series totally destroying the clone wars timeline. I mean seriously, 5 seasons for a less than three year time frame that already has a previous TV series (which is way better!), books, games, and comics. A “little” crowded I’d say.
