Darth Vader and the Ghost Prison Appears on Shelves

Dark Horse launches a five-issue miniseries today, in the form of Darth Vader and the Ghost Prison #1. Written by Star Wars mainstay Haden Blackman, and featuring art from Agustin Alessio, the miniseries follows an Imperial cadet named Tohm as he works with Darth Vader to unlock the secrets of the Ghost Prison.

The graduation celebration for the first class of Imperial cadets is disrupted by a sudden terrorist strike! But the real targets of the attack are the new Emperor and his second in command, Darth Vader.

Only one man—a disabled, brilliant cadet who, up until the moment of the attack, was experiencing the best moment of his life—stands ready to fight alongside Vader for the life of his Emperor!

Writer Haden Blackman brings an impressive portfolio of Star Wars experience to the table. His previous comic work includes issues of Republic and Tales, along with Darth Vader and the Lost Command, a miniseries released last year. Agustin Alessio, on the other hand, has a blank page in the Star Wars universe. Alessio recently worked for Dark Horse on Doctor Solar, Man of the Atom, but Star Wars will be new ground. The combination of veteran writer and rookie artist will be something to keep an eye on.

Can’t decide if you should buy the first issue? Dark Horse has a four-page preview online to help.
