LucasArts has announced their next Star Wars video game. Titled Star Wars 1313, the game will feature absurd graphics and a mature world, as players explore the underworld of Coruscant as a bounty hunter. Star Wars 1313 is “a third person cinematic action adventure game” that brings together ”great artists across the Lucasfilm organization, including LucasArts, Industrial Light & Magic, Lucasfilm Animation Ltd. and Skywalker Sound.”
Named for Level 1313, a ruthless criminal underground deep below the surface of the planet of Coruscant, the game puts players in control of a deadly bounty hunter as he uses an arsenal of exotic weaponry to hunt down his marks and uncover the truth surrounding a criminal conspiracy. Star Wars 1313 emphasizes epic set pieces and fast-paced combat with a hero who uses human skills and gadgets, rather than supernatural Force powers, to make his way through this dangerous world.
A first look at the game aired tonight on GameTrailers TV. You can watch the exclusive debut here. Information on Star Wars 1313 begins at the 1:18 mark in the video.
Consistently billed as a mature game, Dave Smith, Lead Artist at LucasArts, says that it is the ”worst of the worst of the Star Wars galaxy brought together in one place. You’ve got crime, you’ve got gangs, you’ve got bounty hunters, you’ve got treachery, intrigue. All of these kind of, more mature themes, that we haven’t really explored.”
From the official press release:
“We’re excited to share one of the projects LucasArts has been hard at work developing,” said Paul Meegan, President, LucasArts. “Star Wars 1313 dives into a part of the Star Wars mythos that we’ve always known existed, but never had a chance to visit. We are committed to bringing the best gameplay experience and visual fidelity to life and I truly believe the work we are showcasing at E3 will speak for itself.”
The official website for the game is now live, featuring images of Coruscant and a screenshot from the game. You can also like the official Star Wars: 1313 Facebook page.
More details will be revealed at the 2012 Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles, June 5-7. Continue to follow EUCantina for full coverage of LucasArt’s new “high-octane thrill ride”.

“Star Wars 1313 emphasizes … a hero who uses human skills and gadgets, rather than supernatural Force powers, to make his way through this dangerous world.”
This line makes me so disappointed. It’s as if LucasArts has decided that the reason “The Force Unleashed II” sold so poorly was because fans were tired of playing as a Force-sensitive. No, LucasArts, we hated The Force Unleashed II because it was an awful game that you threw together in 9 months.
I’m very wary about this. LucasArts has really burned its fans for the last decade. Continuing to deny us the sequels we’ve been clamoring for, and not even touching whether we’ll get a Star Wars game with a multiplayer component, is very frustrating.
Watch era is it in?
@Travis – They haven’t announced that yet. I’d expect to find out during E3. But the Tie Fighters in the images we’ve seen should indicate which era it is NOT in, at least.
I really thought this was a JK4, I’m hugely disappointed and it hasn’t even come out yet.
I hope by “mature” they don’t mean they’re going to stretch what Star Wars feels like for all it’s worth so that they can interest the “hardcore” audience. Otherwise, I’m interested. Reminds me of the Coruscant Nights books.
Sounds a bit like Grand Theft Auto meets SW. I’m interested. Hopefully it won’t be just on PCs. Consoles (XBox and PS) are where its at. Myself and several friends would have bought The Old Republic if it had been available for the XBox.
