Lucasfilm and Partners Hosting Star Wars Reads Day

Lucasfilm is joining forces with publishing partners Abrams, Chronicle Books, Dark Horse, Del Rey, DK, Scholastic, Titan Magazines, and Workman to host a national Star Wars Reads Day on October 6th, 2012. The day will consist of events being held across the country in hundreds of libraries and bookstores.

Officially participating bookstores and libraries will receive a Star Wars event kit (free of charge). The kit includes: an exclusive Star Wars Reads promotional item (25-50 per event); raffle prizes; promotional giveaways; a packet of event ideas, reproducible activity sheets and trivia; and more. The events will have the PR and marketing support of the eight participating publishers and Lucasfilm.

If your library or store would like to join in the fun, you can register here. The Star Wars event kit will go to the first 200 stores or libraries only. Costumed volunteers can also sign up for the event, and will receive an exclusive commemorative t-shirt. 1500 shirts will be printed.

Don’t forget that you can start supporting reading through our Summer for Children’s Literacy right now! Reading Star Wars books between now and September 12 can give you a chance to win a copy of The Complete Star Wars Encyclopedia and signed Fate of the Jedi novels! You can also donate to help children’s literacy efforts through the donate button on the right sidebar.
