Datapad Daily: The Power of Mystery

Hello everyone! Welcome, once again, to Datapad Daily. In this column we take a topic from Star Wars, Expanded Universe or not, and let you guys chime in on it. This time around we are going to be diving into a theme thatStar Wars has used since its very start: Mystery. Specifically, the power of mystery and characters within our beloved galaxy far, far away.

Boba Fett. Yoda. Han Solo. Palpatine. These are all “well-known” characters in the Star Wars mythos, but how well do we truly know them? Apparently, not all too well, as Disney is rumored to have been in talks to make standalones about at least two of the aforementioned characters. But is not knowing much about their backstories  really a bad thing?

I think that’s a question that many Star Wars fans have been pondering for years. Keeping Yoda and Palpatine low-key has worked for them. In contrast, opening up Boba Fett and Darth Maul has arguably worked for them quite well. So what’s your take – Should characters born from the shadows stay there? Or should the light slowly descend upon them?
