The chase continues in this penultimate chapter of Dark Times—Fire Carrier! The Arkinneans will stop at nothing to protect their plans, and Masters K’Kruhk and Zao will stop at nothing to protect the younglings. Randy Stradley and Gabriel Guzman let the action out to play and they don’t let up.
The script this time around is quick and full of information. Stradley jumps all over the place, following the Arkinneans, helping the younglings, and even takes the time to bring in another interested party. The Darth Vader side of the story looks to be going nowhere, but I’ll keep my hopes up that something exciting will result from it next month. When all is said and done, we’re left at a stand off, and I’m going to be anxious to see how this miniseries concludes.
Gabriel Guzman keeps his best coming, filled with a range of expressions and action galore. The uses of the Force still need some better illustration, but no other details, no matter how small, go unattended. If there weren’t enough alien faces already filling the pages, some natives enter the fray and they aren’t entirely thrilled about it. And for a race that doesn’t speak, the script relies entirely on the skills of the artist to capture the creatures’ intentions, and Guzman doesn’t come up short.
This was a great issue, capturing everything that makes a single issue worth every cent. Here’s to the next issue and a strong finish!
