Review: Legacy #5

Legacy Banner 5 Script: Corinna Bechko & Gabriel Hardman Art: Gabriel Hardman Colors: Rachelle Rosenberg Lettering: Michael Heisler Cover Art: Dave Wilkins Who the heck is Ania Solo?  It's a question that we the fans have been asking ourselves for 5 issues now.  The characters are now asking themselves this same question, even Ania herself doesn't seem to know who she really is.

Legacy #5

It's this basic lack of knowledge or understanding of her past that opens the book.  Ania is either unaware of or doesn't want to acknowledge her famous ancestors.  Ania's talk with the droid AG-37 sums up not only the heart of this character but really the Star Wars saga as a whole.  It's not who you are or where you come from, it's your actions that define you. All along I've been wondering what are the Sith plans, what do they want with this backwater corner of the galaxy?  The plans are finally revealed to not only the reader but the entire galaxy in this issue.  The Sith are not interested in this part of the galaxy or anything directly dealing with it, but rather as an example for the rest of the galaxy.  If the Triumvirate can't protect even this one system how are they going to protect anyone or anything.  It's an interesting move and very appropriate to the Sith, sowing the seeds of distrust and anarchy throughout the galaxy. I've really been enjoying our until now unnamed Sith warrior.  He has been an excellent foil for the Imperial Knights and a great villain to have in this story.  However I didn't find myself quaking in terror when he finally revealed his name, Darth Wredd.  I guess there have been so many Darths over the years that the pool of evil names is running a bit shallow. A silly Darth name aside, Bechko and Hardman have written a great Star Wars story here.  This series has been filled with everything that we love about Star Wars, lightsaber duels, evil mustache twirling villains, fast paced action, cliffhangers and daring escapes.  But it's not just an exciting book, we also have the deeper level about the power of the individual and how one person can change the fate of the galaxy.
