The Essential Characters Canceled, JJM Releases Production Notes for Kenobi

Sad news for Star Wars fans. LucasBooks has confirmed that The Essential Characters has been canceled. Our friends over at Knights Archive spotted the change earlier this week, and the cancelation was confirmed by a Lucasfilm representative a few minutes ago. Written by Dan Wallace and originally slated for a 2016 release, The Essential Characters would have detailed the hundreds of beloved characters from the films, The Clone Wars animated series, novels, comics, video games, and more. However, with the upcoming Sequel Trilogy and influx of new characters, it's possible that the powers that be deemed it wise to hold off on releasing the ultimate character reference book. Thankfully, it's not all bad news. This week, John Jackson Miller also released a wealth of behind-the-scenes information about the fan-favorite novel Kenobi. Fans will learn all sorts of interesting tidbits, including Miller's take on how the book transitioned from a 2007 comic to a 2013 novel. Miller also included detailed production notes and trivia for each chapter. [Edelweiss via Knights Archive | John Jackson Miller]
