Marvel to take over Star Wars comics in 2015

maulcomicnews

StarWars.com has confirmed that Marvel Comics will be taking over the license for Star Wars comics and graphic novels in 2015. Many suspected this would be the case after Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm. Since Disney also owns Marvel, it makes sense to move Star Wars comics more “in-house” at that time, with Episode VII launching in December 2015.

Carol Roeder, director of Lucasfilm franchise publishing, spoke positively about the current (and soon to be previous) relationship with Dark Horse Comics, who has been publishing Star Wars comics for over 20 years. Bleeding Cool has a response on the news from Mike Richardson, owner of Dark Horse Comics. Dark Horse will continue with ongoing and announced projects until Marvel takes over.
