Script: Corinna Bechko & Gabriel Hardman Art: Brian Albert Theis Colors: Jordan Boyd Lettering: Michael Heisler Cover Art: Agustin Alessio The Galactic Federation Triumvirate forces have managed to catch up to Darth Wredd, but every Sith in the galaxy has come down to the floating planet to stop them. It’s a final battle with the future of the galaxy hanging in the balance. Can they stop the Sith once and for all or will the galaxy be swept into darkness again by the forces of the Sith?
The Imperial Knights led by Empress Fel herself are fighting against the Sith onslaught, but the Imperial Knights are in danger of being overwhelmed. They came expecting one Sith, not all of them. This issue is one big battle. The action is broken up and the story focused on our heroes and their unexpected ally, Darth Wredd. Ania Solo does the best she can, but she is one of the only non-Jedi in the middle of a massive lightsaber battle. The battle culminates in a final confrontation with Darth Wredd. There have been a lot of dark side users and Sith throughout the Star Wars saga, but I don’t know if any of them have quite ended the way Darth Wredd ends things. The issue closes out with an epilogue that wraps it all up, and a fun cameo ties this book into the other Legacy books. There are repeated mentions of the end of history, it feels like the creators commenting on this chapter of the Star Wars Expanded Universe closing. Bechko and Hardman’s writing has carried the classic Star Wars adventure feel, full of cliffhangers and heroes escaping impossible odds. The artwork between Hardman and Theis has felt like nothing that came before it in the EU, helping to set this book apart from the others. I have put a lot of praise on this book during it’s run, but it has always delivered on what I wanted and expected out of a Star Wars story. It’s sad that we wont get anymore adventures with these great characters. I’m not sure if the creators knew they were going to be the final story released in this now Legends timeline, but I can’t think of a better way to end everything.
