Battlefront Developer Closes, IP Lives On

Video game giant Electronic Arts (EA) announced today that, due to budget cuts and economic strains, their Pandemic Studios will be shutting down. Star Wars fans likely know Pandemic best for developing both the Battlefront and Battlefront II video games. However, according to Joystiq, Star Wars fans do not need to be too sad (yet.) The Battlefront IP will live on, according to EA, even with the death of Pandemic Studios. Time will tell who Lucasarts will go to within EA for Battlefront III, if they even make Battlefront III. It is sad to see the developer of one of the best selling Star Wars video games of all time go and we wish all those who lost their jobs the best of luck gaining new ones. Source: Joystiq
