Fate of the Jedi is currently underway and the nine book series does not end until 2011, but Del Rey has the contract for Star Wars novels until 2013. What, then, can fans look forward to after 2011? According to Lucasbooks’ Executive Editor Sue Rostoni,
“Honestly, we’re not presently looking at another long series — more stand-alones, duologies, and trilogies. At least that’s where we’re headed today.”
What does that mean? It seems Expanded Universe fans are in for similar times as the Bantam days, which may be exactly what some readers may need right now, feeling that the EU is giving too much, too quickly.

We have got a lot of time to cover before Star Wars Legacy how does Jag become emporer how many generations are their between Ben and Kol Nat and Cade Skywalker is Jaina Jags wife and the mother of Fel the second and the grandmother of Roan and his daughter Sia Fel how does the GA go from a cheif of state to the cheifs of statewhat happens to the Lost Sith Tribe is Vestara Kahi destined to become Ben Skywalker’s wife and if she is not who is what else are the One Sith going to do between fate of the Jedi and the Sith Imperial War and how does Allana Solo fit into this big picture so many questions so few answers and I doubt Fate of the Jedi wil answer half of thes questions so their will be plenty of stories after FOTJ for those who are worried about Del Ray having their hands tied
The EU isn’t getting too much, too fast, it’s just giving me nothing worth my time. Get some meaningful characters back (you’ve killed several lately and FOTJ isn’t over yet so I don’t know how many random deaths will occur in the next 6 books), change up the authors (let Luceno plan events and not Denning), and get more Star Wars Invasion comics coming (seriously, it was the best thing SW gave me in 2009 because most of the other stuff scared me away — and when KotOR ends, that’s the end of me purchasing anything SW :(
It would be neat if this was LucasBooks’ way of making room for tie-ins and spin-offs for the much anticipated live-action TV shows (which in-itself would probably air when FotJ ends). We could have stand-alones as well as short spin-off series (duologies and/or trilogies).
Recent new authors feature some who have already contributed to TV show franchised spin-off books, eg Karen Miller (Stargate SG-1) and Christie Golden (Star Trek).
