Wow “a staggering truth” I’m thinking as this series goes I may have hope once more for the on going adventures. I love these “Most current” Skywalker / Solo adventures, but as cool as NJO was the series lost it’s “umph” for me after Destiny’s Way. Since then I’ve been sort of enjoying the ride, but not so much the delivery. If this book and series does what I hope, I will be stoked!
The way I look at it NJO was cool Legacy of the Force was not so much NJO was a nice change of pace to me after reading so many GCW book the Yuuzhon Vong were cool and I loved how they were Force blind which made them difficult enemies for the New Jedi Order and this war was different then any other war in the Star Wars Universe this was not the usual Jedi VS Sith War this was a war for survival which makes the Yuuzhon Vong War unique to any other war in the Star Wars Universe the coolest thing about the Vong was their organic technology that was great stuff so put simply NJO was great and a truly worthy and unique part of the Star Wars timeline that I hope to see expanded further in the new Invasion comic the only thing I did not like about NJO was Traitor yes I am one of the few who does not like traitor and Anakin Solo’s death I hated that he had so much potential as a new hero what a waste NJO was a bit slow after DW but I did like TUF
Legacy of the Force was a huge disappointment to me it was like a really bad retelling of Revenge of the Sith for me Betrayal was good but LOTF goes down hard and fast after that I blame a lot of the problems of LOTF on Karen Traviss yes I said it she ruined the series for me between her obsession with the Mandilorians and the way she butchered Mara Skywalker it ruined it for me and Mara deserved more dignity then Traviss gave her and while Mara and Jacen/Caedus were the biggest names to die in LOTF a bunch of other long term characters die as well and most seemed to be just for kicks though I will concede that Galid Paleon did kind of need to die so Jagged Fel could become leader of the GE so he could eventually become emperor and establish the Fel Empire
Fate of the Jedi has been good so far I loved Abyss it was great and in my opinion was Troy Dennings best book since Star by Star that said the wait for Backlash has been painful though Crosscurrent and Darth Bane DOE have been nice distractions
I hope Fate of the Jedi answers a question I have had since Star Wars Legacy started back in 2006 and that is did Jaina Solo go to the Empire I suspect Roan and Sia Fel are of Skywalker blood though Jaina which is why I really want this resolved and I like that FOTJ seems to be answering that question
Luke and Ben has been the funniest part for me so far Ben in particular has been very fun I love that he has his mother’s sarcastic sense of humor and hope to see him retain that in the future and it is nice to see that Luke is still a badass even though he is in his 60′s now
as for the Lost Sith Tribe I like them I do I love the fact that they have ties to the True Sith Empire from the Great Hyperspace War which also ties into the upcoming TOR game and the upcoming TOR books as well it is nice to see them trying to link the KOTOR/TOR era with the Legacy era great stuff and I love the idea of Luke and Ben having to deal with some leftovers from the True Sith great stuff and of course that means this Lost Sith Tribe is anything but random they have a great back story which is good because it would have been real easy for them to become some random Sith faction that just happened to be stranded I am glad that this is not the case with the LST I will be curious to see how things end for them especially with this alliance coming between them and the Skywalkers I think they will ether 1 get wiped out by ether the New Jedi Order or the One Sith or 2 become part of the New Jedi Order or the One Sith
as for Vestara Kahi I both love and hate her at the same time on the positive side I think she is a great new character with a lot of potential the fact that she survived a fight with Luke Skywalker at all is impressive so yeah she is good no doubt there and she is not a fool unlike most Sith Lords who think the Dark Side makes them invincible now on the negative side I see a lot of parallels between Vestara and Mara Jade that I just can’t ignore and Vestara’s age is a little too convenient for her not to be a potential love interest for Ben Skywalker sure they are enemies right now but Luke and Mara were enemies too at first if Vestara survives this series I fear she will become Mara Skywalker 2.0 and that bothers me as a Mara fan I do not want Mara to become a stereotype for Skywalker wives so if they go this route I want Vestara to somehow be different from Mara should she survive Fate of the Jedi Allies will be good I think I am looking forward to it
