Our friend Zee Zee just wrote in with an article from Publishers Weekly about Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

It states that: “The U.S. movie release will be on August 15, followed by the DVD release and then a prime-time TV series on Cartoon Network and TNT in the fall. All the books on the initial roster are movie-based, but the characters are the same in the movie and series, and “those titles will naturally backlist,” Dorfman believes. Grosset & Dunlap will release an additional five titles in the fall in conjunction with the TV series launch.”

So, this means we’re going to get the movie on DVD in the early fall, as well as five more books from Grosset & Dunlap for the series! Sweet! For information, check the source article here. Thanks again, Zee Zee!

The Force.net is saying that this information is probably not correct. We’ll try to get you an official word on the subject. As far as we’re aware, Warner Brothers owns the rights to the DVD, and are planning to release the DVD after the movie, but not necessarily before the show itself.

Passed this info onto TFn and received the following reply:

I don’t believe this is correct (the dvd release date).

It isn’t unless the plans have changed.

Personaly I don’t recall any info or rumours regarding TCW dvd release prior to the PW statement - maybe TFn’s sources are better than ours.
