No Force Unleashed Multiplayer on PS3 or 360-UPDATE 2

Posted May 19th, 2008 by Andrew Lupi

According to a Lucasarts statement regarding the multiplayer ability of The Force Unleashed:

“To be specific, there’s no multiplayer in the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions, because there is on the Wii, PSP, and DS. As far as specific reasons are concerned, we don’t really like to get into the reasons why we don’t do things because I don’t think there’s really a satisfactory answer that people would really be happy with. So, there isn’t multiplayer and that’s kind of how it is…

This is kinda disappointing. I was expecting at least online play….. What do you say?

UPDATE:

Lucasarts told TF.N that there are no plans for a multiplayer and “the publication that initially quoted me as saying that there isn’t any multiplayer for those platforms because there is on Wii, PSP, and DS got what I said wrong. That’s not the case at all, and there was no trade-off or decision like that. The fact that multiplayer exists on Wii, PSP, and DS has no bearing on the fact that it doesn’t on PS3 and Xbox 360. They were completely independent decisions and completely different development teams working on those projects.”

So, we don’t know why it won’t, just that it won’t…

That definitely is too bad. The Wii version gets it as a replacement for its lack of DMM (Digital Matter Something) and Euphoria (AI Program) as well as the less fantastic graphics. For the Xbox 360 and PS3, it seems we get the aforementioned traits instead of multiplayer.

I guess I won’t be buying TFU after all. Bad move, LucasArts.

ok, im not gonna say anything bad about the game, im actually quite possitive that the game is gonna kick ass, but my question is, is that after everyone has completed the game, what do you expect them to do? I believe that to have a good game you have to have an amazing set up with graphics, and a good story line, now in this department ill give it to you congrats you probably made a really good game, but.. to have a truely badass, amazing, never quit playing game, you have to have some sort of online play in this day and age, you have to be able to play the story of the game, but you never want it to be over so we never get bored of the game, look at games like rainbow six, call of duty 4, GTAIV, they are all considered amazing games, because they have been out for months, and ppl are still playing them online.
Now i have complete faith in lucas arts, i am huge star wars fan, but in my opinion and i kno you didnt ask for it, i honestly believe if you want to have the best game of the year i would make online play, but no matter what your decision i will buy the game and probably enjoy it. just consider the outcome of your decision for online play. thank you

I guess thats fine. Its not like their won’t be downloadable content for it. But still is a bad choice by lucasarts. I would love online but i guess its not happening.

I was extremely angry that the game was not online and this would have been and amazing online game like jedi acadamy and now since there is no online play i think its safe to say that there are a lot of angry and i mean angry people out there.
