One of the major questions fans have asked Star Wars: The Old Republic developers is in regards to space combat. It had already been revealed that there will be player starships for everyone by class, so the obvious question was – “How can these starships be used?” During the TOR panel at Comic-Con, it was announced that space combat will be a part of the game.
But what does that mean? Space combat is an alternative gameplay experience to the primary game of storytelling, questing, and ground-based combat. In space combat, you fly your personal ship to various “hot spots” on your galaxy map. From there, you will blast your way through asteroid fields, enemy fighters, frigates, destroyers, and a variety of other obstacles that will evoke memories of some of the great Star Wars space battles.
More information will be revealed in the October edition of PC Gamer (released August 17th), including interviews and screenshots, so look for the cover above in August.

I did not see that coming. I guess that’s pretty great. Hopefully it’s better than the old KOTOR turret mini-game. Good times.
