Dave’s comment about the Gungan called Lunker was not a joke at all. It’s mentioned in some detail in the book “The Art of The Clone Wars”, which discusses the original concept for the show: a male Twi’lek Jedi and his female Togruta Padawan, a male Human smuggler and his girlfriend, and the show’s ‘muscle’, a Gungan named Lunker.
Check it out, it’s a great book.
