Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi 1 by Aaron Allston- UPDATED
Posted by: Son of Skywalker in Book NewsOur good friend Zee Zee just sent us in a link to Amazon for a book entitled “Star Wars: Fate of the Jedi I.” It’s placed as a hardcover and is apparently going to be penned by veteran Star Wars author Aaron Allston as a first in a series. The release date is set for March 24, 2009 and it seems it will be 256 pages. Nothing as of yet is confirmed, but we will contact our friends at Del Rey and see what we can do. Until then, let the speculation on this possible novel begin!

We contacted the wonderful Ms Sue Rostoni at Lucas Licensing about the novel and she told us, “I can’t comment on this yet. Sorry!” Seems pretty useless, right? Nope, it actually tells us that it is indeed real and that she has to wait until it’s official announced to divulge more information… At least, that’s what I get from the “yet.”

Of course we will
I’ve contacted Del Rey for a confirmation and am waiting for a reply. Those are the two time periods that come to my mind as well.

Count me in — i was waiting for the schedule to fill in a little bit for 2009. I’m hoping that the page count is preliminary — thats a lot to pay for such a short hardcover, but it wont prevent me from getting it day one!!
Agree that these two timeperiods sound right — I’m hoping for Order 66.

I hope Fate of the Jedi will be a post-LOTF hardcover dealing with the future of Luke’s Jedi Order perhaps some members becoming the Imperial Knights of the Legacy comics.

I hop this series will be post LOTF and will detail the rebirth of the Empire. I think Ben Skywalker and Jaina Solo will be at odds with each other, and it will lead to a Civil War amongst the Jedi, and result in the berth of the Imperial Knights. Of cause, I assume this would most likely mean that Luke has already become one with the Force, which kind of sucks cause Luke and Mara Skywalker are my top 2 favorite characters. They both will have been killed off within a 3 year period. Ben vs. Jania good thing Mara is one with Force because she would just hate having to choose between her son and her former padawan.

i think this series is the beginning of ben’s son: cade skywalker and the “death of ben?” And also the end of jaina somehow? She doesn’t appear in the Legacy series, the both death for ben and jaina? could be…just a suggestion that might happen. Where’s ben? Where’s jaina?Leia? We don’t know. This opening of Fate of the Jedi series is the pre-Legacy comic series. Two survivors.

I don’t want to be rude but I must correct you. Cade is not the son of Ben but his great-grandson. There are 5 generation between Luke and Cade, 1st Ben then 2 unknown generation then Kol Skywalker and then Cade. You ought to read the Legacy comic books, it is so cool.
Nevertheless, I am thrilled to see that my favorite SW author will wrtie the next series (or at least a part of it, I expect to see another 9 books written by the same 3 authors as LOTJ since it was a good length (not as long and useless as NJO… really, they should have done it in 3 books (maybe 6) instead of 15).
And of course, we will see the rise of the Empire and surely Jaina and Jag will have a child who will be strong in the force (at least, Jag will fall for a force user since the Emperor in the Legacy comics is a Fel and he is pretty strong in the Force and he have a legion of Imperial Knights).
I just can’t wait to see how this all happens!

The end of Invincible does seem to set up the rise of the Fel Empire. I would not mind seeing Jag and Jaina rebuild the Empire. I get the feeling Han and Leia are just going to love this development, especially considering that they spent two decades fighting to put an end to the Empire. I think it goes without saying that when Luke decided to make Jag Head of State of the Empire that he was not expecting him to become Emperor. So in a way Luke may be responsible for the rise of the Fel Empire. I could definitely see Jaina leaving the New Jedi Order because she was forced to kill her twin brother even if she asked for that mission in the first place.
Personally I liked the NJO Series it was a nice change after reading so many Galactic Civil War Novels by the time I got to Visions of the Future the only thing that interested me was how Luke and Mara got together. The only part of the New Jedi Order Series I did not like was Anakin Solo’s death in Star by Star, what a waste. They wasted all that time building him up as the hero only to kill him off in the middle of the series. Why did they waste the time? I like the Yuuzhon Vong. They are interesting and their technology is both cool and creepy at the same time.
One more thing, Star Wars Legacy starts in 130 ABY and most of the series has taken place in 137 ABY. The Sith Imperial War starts in 127 ABY, so we have an eighty-six year period between LOTF and the events of the Sith Imperial War that needs to be covered. There is no way that Nat and Kol Skywalker are Ben’s sons. I could buy them being his grandsons. I think Cade is Ben’s great grandson.

Greetings, I was at comic con and spoke with some people who work for Del Rey and they confirmed to me that FOTJ takes place after MF, is a nine book series with three rotating authors, and has Ben and Luke on a separate adventure while everyone else stays home and deals with a crisis. The tone is intended to be more upbeat and adventurous than LOTF.

That is good to hear IF it is true. I have been reading about all sorts of rumors about the next war. Luke and Ben are going off on their own on a mission. I am curious as to why they would do this. It will be interesting to see if the New Jedi Order can function without their leader and their possible future leader.
I have also heard about Daala starting a war with the Empire to kill the Moff Council and Jaina not surprisingly wants the Jedi to aid Jag Fel and Empire. I also read that Boba Fett is going to start a war with the Jedi. Convenient that Fett chose to start the war while the Skywalker’s are gone. I assume this evens the playing field for this war. Oh and apparently Darth Krayt’s One Sith are manipulating this entire thing. Anyway these are just rumors I have been reading on the Force Net Boards I do not know if it is true. I can not wait to get some official information from the official site maybe sometime after Millennium Falcon comes out.

Sorry I forgot to bring this up but, does anybody remember that Daala and Boba Fett have an alliance and have had one for sometime according to Revelation. I get the feeling that Daala and Boba Fett are working together to destroy all their enemies. They both hate the Jedi and I imagine Daala’s opinion of the Jedi has not changed much since the Galactic Civil War. She will most likely support Boba Fett secretly while fighting the Empire. Daala said it herself at the end of Invincible we need a galaxy where the Jedi are not needed to solve our problems. She may mean the Galactic Alliance does not need them and they need to be hunted down. Nobody except Jaina Solo really knows about Daala’s alliance with Fett. In any case this can’t be good for the New Jedi Order especially since the Skywalker’s are conveniently elsewhere during this war.
I really want to see the Fel Empire formed during this series. I have suspected Jag Fel of being Fel the first from day one of Star Wars Legacy. I want to see Jaina form the Imperial Knights very badly. I think it would be extremely cool to find out that Roan and Marasaih Fel are cousins to Nat Kol and Cade Skywalker. Sorry for posting twice in one day I am done for now.

if this is true then ben should be headed for the darkside mabe he finds and gets corrupted by some sith artifact like the tassles and turns to the darksaide and continues to play of so called stand up jedi knight and muders a few people and malnipulates the war like palpatine did.
they spend 8 books building up jacen solo(darth ceadus) and then kill him why?
every book afterinfurno was a big dissapointment

[...] series have been appearing on forums, and even in the comment section on EUC where the book was announced. Right now, all we have is Amazon’s entry and Sue telling EUC that she can’t say [...]

true. but the fact that they are not willing to divludge a little more detail points to what ever is going to happen in this series is going to be monumental ( hopefully if this is a 9 book series it will stay good through the entire series). well beacuse invincible was such a dissipointment they have to do something.

I hope it is better too. LOTF was very disappointing and predictable for me as an overall story. I think the series killed or disposed of more big characters then it should have. My second favorite character overall Mara Jade Skywalker was killed off just to elevate Jacen Solo/Darth Caedus as the main villain and her death was also used to make Ben Skywalker wake up from his early stupidly and realize that maybe his parents are not the bad guys and Jacen is. I wanted Ben to be developed in this series and I am glad the series manages to do that but it is the only thing I liked about the series. I just wish Mara did not have to be sacrificed convenient name so Ben could be developed as a character. I hope FOTJ is good.
I just can not see Ben falling to the dark side. Inferno certainly seemed to have him heading that way but Ben learns later why his mother did what she did and it changes him. Mara feared that Ben would become just like Vader and that is why she went after Jacen to prevent him from turning Ben into the next Darth Vader. Mara sacrificed herself to show Ben the evil of the Sith. Ben seemed to know why his mother went after Jacen and because of that he is not going to let his mother’s death mean nothing by falling to the dark side. Ben is not Jacen he is too much like father to ever become Jacen.

jacen was probly my favorite chacter. the way i think ben could and will fall to the darkside is that he will be corrupted by the tassles or that he will somehow through some events get injected with sith poison like ulic keldroma it ignites anger and rage at even your best freind.( listen to star wars darklords of the sith for an idea as to what could happen). i am glad they developed ben in his own right but this series was a waste of paper after infurno. they spend 5 books elevating jacen solo and then he gets killed at the end what the hell…. but FOTJ should be good mabe the yu z vong come back and try to take over again

No offence but did you not read what I had to say on why it is unlikely Ben will fall to the dark side? I will say it again Ben is not going to dishonor his mother’s sacrifice by falling to the dark side. Ben is not going to fall period.
Another thing, FORGET THE TASSELS THEY WERE NOT MENT FOR BEN. I do not care what anybody says Ben did not sacrifice his mother I will not deny that he is partly to blame for her death because he did not tell Luke first but he did not sacrifice her. Mara chose not to tell Luke about Jacen and went to kill him before telling anyone what she was doing and what Jacen had become the tassels have no more purpose forget them.
As for Sith poison corrupting Ben that was an ancient method for corrupting Jedi from 4,000 years earlier that method is most likely long forgotten unless Darth Krayt’s One Sith have rediscovered it on Korriban which is unlikely.
Why are you so desperate to see Ben fall to the dark side? Let’s face Luke Han and Leia are not getting any younger. Anakin Solo is dead. I will admit he would have been great by now. Allena is too young to fight in wars at the age she is at. Jaina would make sense if it where not still possible that she may join the Empire and found the Imperial Knights in the near future. The Fel Empire may not be evil per say but they are not good guys ether. Jaina may do some very unjedi like things in the near future so I can’t call her the new hero ether. Currently Ben is the only one right now that makes sense as a new hero. When Luke becomes one with the Force and I think that is going to happen sooner rather then later, someone is going to have to pick up the torch and I do not see any reason what so ever why it should not be Ben Skywalker.
