The Official SW site updated this evening with a first look, which was a blurb and the cover, as seen above, at author James Luceno’s upcoming title “Millenium Falcon.” Here’s the first part of the blurb:

“Two years have passed since the defeat of Darth Caedus, the former Jacen Solo. For a grieving Han and Leia, the shadow of their son’s tragic downfall still looms large. But Jacen’s own bright and loving daughter, Allana, offers a ray of hope for the future as she thrives in her grandparents’ care. The eager, inquisitive and Force-strong girl makes a curious discovery aboard her grandfather’s beloved spacecraft — the much-overhauled but ever-dependable Millennium Falcon. The Solo family then finds itself at a new turning point, about to set out on an odyssey into uncertain territory, untold adventure, and unexpected rewards.”

You can read the entire first look here at SW.com. You can also feel free to discuss Millenium Falcon, due ot this October as a hardcover, on our message boards here.

Well…I like the cover, though it seems somewhat reminiscent of the X-Wing covers…and I suppose I was expecting a little…more? I don’t know. But what all can you do with a ship? It’s a really nice cover, anyway. I guess I’m just too picky. :)

Not too bad. It’s a bit too expected for me. I was hoping Allana would finally make a cover.

I am not surprised by the cover at all. The book is called Millennium Falcon so what else are they going to put on the cover other then the Falcon. The cover is decent but it is also predictable. I do not buy books based on there cover however. I have seen far worse Star Wars covers then this. Allegiance and Death Star defiantly come to mind when I think of bad covers.

As for Allana getting a cover. I would not count on it until she is a teenager or older, after all Jaina Jacen Anakin and Ben did not get covers until they hit their teens so Allana needs to age another 7 years or so before we are going to get a picture of her, needless to say much like the Solo kids and Ben Skywalker before her we are all going to have to wait for Del Rey to put her on the cover of a book. Maybe she will get a cover in the Fate of the Jedi series of course that will depend where we are in the time line during Fate of the Jedi.

While I think the cover is a little lacking. I do like the summery it is very interesting that said some things seem to be missing from it. The summery does not mention Luke looking into why Jacen fell to the dark side or Daala running the GA at all not to mention the force looking the wage war on the Force itself what happened to that? I hope Luke Ben and Jaina still have a part to play in this book. I would hope Luke has not spent 2 years trying to understand where he went wrong with Jacen because it really was not his fault. Jacen chose to listen to Vergre and later Lumiya Jacen chose to fallow Mara Skywalker to Kaven and finish her off when he could have just left her there. Luke may have been Jacen’s Jedi Master but Jacen had 2 teachers that molded him into Darth Caedus and in the end the only one that is truly responsible for Jacen is Jacen himself. Jacen made his choice when he killed Mara and ultimately paid for it. Jacen got what he deserved hopefully Luke realizes this and moves on. Daala has never been my favorite when it comes to Imperial Warlords and considering how much of an idiot she was during her part of the Galactic Civil War I am surprised she is Chief of State of the GA at all. I could really care less about whether or not she has a big part or not and in the end she will probably start the next war or wars if the rumors I have reading are true anyway.

I think this book will be like Survivors Quest in that there will not be a war going on at all during the events of this story. This is going to be a bridge novel between LOTF and FOTJ like Survivors Quest was for the Galactic Civil War and the Yuuzhon Vong War.

James Luceno has put out some great stand alone novels and I expect this to be good to. I really enjoyed the Unifying Force and Dark Lord the Rise of Darth Vader in particular. This will be good I think.
