Weekly EU Releases: Spring into 2011

Not only do you have the beginning of the final chapter of the Legacy series kicking off in Legacy: War this week, but word has come down the pike of the Spring 2011 initial line up as well! Keep in mind these dates may change as the time draws near, but not too often.

First we have take a look at this week’s (12/15) release; Dark Horse Comics’ Legacy: War #1, how has the return of Darth Krayt altered the fragile alliances between the Jedi, the Galactic Alliance, and the Empire? With everything hanging on the line, the stage is set for an explosive finish! Be sure to check your local comic store to secure your copy.

Next week, (12/22) be on the look out for the final issue of the New Jedi Order’s Invasion: Rescues arc, #6 (of 6). Everything boils to the surface in this chilling series set during the height of the Yuuzhan Vong Invasion. Where will this issue leave things for Finn and Kaye Galfridian as we gear up to move into the 3rd arc? Only time will tell!

Two weeks from now (12/28) Joe Shreiber’s highly anticipated Zombie Horror novel arrives! Red Harvest explodes into fans hands everywhere on the 28th. Will the Zombie trend continue to spread? I’d like to hope so, but we’ll see. If the past few chapter excerpts have been a sign of what to expect, Red Harvest looks to be on the right track!

Moving into the recent additions to the 2011 line up we have March’s Darth Vader and the Lost Command #3 (of 5) and Legacy: War #4 (of 6). Both being relatively new, it’s had to say how they will go, but with Legacy: War you can count on it going out with a bang!

And later in May we see the Trade Paperback collection of The Old Republic: Threat of Peace, this recollected webcomic follows the Jedi as the Sith set up their Treaty, an act that would have major ramifications for the Jedi and the Republic later. Witness the cunning of the Sith, and the valiant stand of the Jedi, sworn to defend the Republic from the evils of the Sith.

And finally we have the Trade Paperback collection of Blood Ties: Jango and Boba Fett. Witness the story arc concept that spawned a whole new series! That’s right, Blood Ties will continue next year! Look forward to the next set of characters to share a blood tie, who could it be? Again, we must wait. But until then be sure to read the publisher summaries below:

Unlike those other Jedi sidelined to the Agricultural Corps—young Jedi whose abilities have not proved up to snuff—Hestizo Trace possesses one extraordinary Force talent: a gift with plants. Suddenly her quiet existence among greenhouse and garden specimens is violently destroyed by the arrival of an emissary from Darth Scabrous. For the rare black orchid that she has nurtured and bonded with is the final ingredient in an ancient Sith formula that promises to grant Darth Scabrous his greatest desire.

But at the heart of the formula is a never-before-seen virus that’s worse than fatal—it doesn’t just kill, it transforms. Now the rotting, ravenous dead are rising, driven by a bloodthirsty hunger for all things living—and commanded by a Sith Master with an insatiable lust for power and the ultimate prize: immortality . . . no matter the cost.
