Weekly EU Releases: Jan 3rd – 12th

UPDATED: Valsedian Operation #9 Online!

2011 is starting off a little slow, but never fear! It's all going to be some interesting additions to the EU this month. This week we have John Jackson Miller's Knight Errant: Aflame (#4 of 5). But don't mistake one issue for a lack of action, and that the action this week is small. Once again Miller titillates the mind with new developments in the story. In this issue, right out the gate we get a good look at Lord Daiman's bizarre philosophy, and part of what makes him tick and how he thinks. We can start to understand the madness that has obviously corrupted him throughout his life. Or maybe he was just born as crazy as a Kowakian monkey-lizard. Time will tell. On the other side of the Sith conflicts, we have Daiman's brother Odion. Lord Odian is the Sith Lord who's bent on destruction, and has decided to change things up a bit in this issue. He's driven to remove his brother Daiman from the galaxy one way or another, which has made for an interesting ride so far. Isn't brotherly love grand? The events in this comic allow for some great character development, as well as allowing for details about many character's' pasts. We also learn that Kerra can be a driving force for good in Sith space. She has an epiphany while on a mission to Chelloa that obviously changes her strategy. We'll have to wait to see how it will shape the course of the series. For a series just branching out, the story so far has captivated many, and for many others it's been the art. The details in this series are outstanding! You can check out Dark Horse Comics preview of #4 here. Another notable addition to this issue is a 5 page excerpt to the Knight Errant novel in its back. Also bear in mind that this Knight Errant excerpt is not the same as the one in the back of Joe Schreiber's Red Harvest. So if you're wanting a taste of what's next when Aflame's arc is finished you might want to check out these two excerpts and get a feel for it. *UPDATE: The Clone War: The Valsedian Operation is once more continuing with part 9. The crafty series that is running with Season 3 of the Clone Wars once more continues with the adventure as General Keelyvine Reus is locked in combat with Asajj Ventreee, meanwhile Obi-wan, Ahsoka, and Reus' Padawan Tyzen Xebec stumble into some trouble of their own. This is a free webcomic, so you can always go back and start the fun of the whole season here. And be sure to hit your local comic shop this week, or ordered your additions online, to unravel the EU mysteries! Still not quite sold on this weeks EU additions yet? Well, here's the publisher summaries; they might help you decide. Knight Errant: Aflame #4 (of 5):
Jedi Kerra Holt prevented the destruction of the mining colony of Chelloa . . . but she also began a Sith--on--Sith war, and the colony is in the middle! Complete annihilation has not come to the planet of Chelloa by the hand of Sith Lord Odion, but a war between him and his rival brother, Lord Daiman, might not leave much of the planet for either of them to rule. It’s up to Kerra to find the advantage in the rivalry between the two Sith. * John Jackson Miller is also writing a Knight Errant novel for Del Rey starring Kerra Holt. * Read about Kerra Holt here first in Dark Horse comics!
The Valsedian Operation:
The Valsedian Operation begins right where Act on Instinct left off. Having been expelled from the now-Separatist planet of Ukio, Jedi General Keelyvine Reus and her Padawan Tyzen Xebec are returning to Coruscant along with Clone Commander Ganch. Accompanying them is AgriCorps worker - Sanya, whose help was instrumental in fighting the Seperatist forces on Ukio. While their cruiser is docking, Tyzen welcomes Sanya back to her one-time home and Reus proceeds to thank her for her service to the Republic. She assures Sanya that her assistance will be well reflected in her report to the Jedi Council and that it might influence where the AgriCorps send her next. On debarking, the group is met by Captain Rex who brings a priority message for the two Jedi to report immediately to Master Yoda. He also offers to take Ganch to an RSO Center for some down-time. Initially hesitant, Ganch obliges when Reus insists that he go and stand by until called for. He invites Sanya to go with him and she readily agrees. Reus and Xebec depart to the Jedi Temple and enter a war room where they are met by Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and his Padawan Ahsoka Tano.
