Preparing for The Clone Wars – Overlords

Star Wars: The Clone Wars continues tonight on Cartoon Network with the start of the Mortis Trilogy. Beginning with episode 15,"Overlords", the episodes will take viewers on a journey with Anakin Skywalker as he learns more about his role as the Chosen One. Skywalker is accompanied by Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka Tano as they travel to the mysterious planet of Mortis, to learn the secrets of the Force. Tonight's episode will feature various new voices, characters, and locations, so to help you prepare, we've created a guide to all of the news about Mortis from the last few weeks. There has been a major resurgence for characters who made their Star Wars debut in The Phantom Menace lately. After revealing a character in last week's episode (we won't spoil it), The Clone Wars is now bringing in Qui-Gon Jinn and Shmi Skywalker into the mix. Both are likely to appear as visions to the Jedi on Mortis. Qui-Gon will be voiced by Liam Neeson, and Pernilla August will voice Shmi. Both are reprising the roles that they performed for the live action film. It's been a big week for Qui-Gon and his fans; for a dead guy, he sure gets around (but Dave Filoni says not to worry!) A new miniseries of comics from Dark Horse was announced yesterday, and Qui-Gon will be the star. Check out the special variant cover here! (Could that be Tahl?) Neeson will voice Qui-Gon again in next week's episode, though there is no word if Shmi will return after tonight. The Clone Wars is also bringing in veterans from other Star Wars projects to provide voices in the Mortis Trilogy. Sam Witwer, who voiced the Secret Apprentice in both The Force Unleashed video games, and Adrienne Wilkinson who portrayed Maris Brood in the first TFU, will appear as the Son and Daughter characters. Earlier today, Executive Director Dave Filoni posted a note about the Mortis Trilogy and the rest of Season 3 on Facebook.
Mortis! I am so excited for all of you to see these episodes. You have had a taste of some of the big secrets I have had to keep when you watched the Nightsisters trilogy. But there is enough coming during the final episodes of this season to keep you talking and thinking for quite some time. Let’s put it this way, this summer the Q & A portion of my convention panels will need to be much longer. So get your kids practicing their questions. That’s all I can say for now. These episodes are not for me to explain, at least not at this time. They are for you to experience. Over time, we may reveal more. We’ll just have to wait and see For now enjoy this Friday, and the many Fridays to come. The Force will be with you… always. Dave
Various people involved with the episodes have been sharing their reactions on Facebook and Twitter: Joel Aron (CG/Lighting/FX Supervisor): "Just watched the next 3 #starwars #clonewars with final sound. Fans minds will be blown. So proud of our team! Great job!" Katie Lucas (Writer): "Mortis episodes are amazing! Game changers!" Sam Witwer (Actor): "Just saw the Clone Wars Mortis Trilogy at Skywalker Ranch. You guys have no idea what's in store for you." The preview article for "Overlords" can be found on Finally, check out the two preview clips for tonight's episode. You can read the descriptions for all three episodes in the trilogy here. Tune into Cartoon Network tonight at 8:30 EST and enjoy the show!
