EUC readers may recall a little while back reports of an “Untitled SW Game Novel” page being up at Del Rey and Random House. Well, it seems it may be a tie-in novel to the recently announced “Star Wars: The Old Republic” video game.
When asked, “Is there any chance that the Untitled Game Novel is somehow connected with the just announced The Old Republic?,” Sue Rostoni replied,
“There is some chance of that, yes. There’s also some chance it’s connected with some other secret game title.”
Now, it’s interesting to note that the only other Star Wars MMO, “Galaxies,” had a tie-in novel as well. We’ll keep you updated!
Star Wars.com has released the cover summaries for both Karen Traviss’ “Clone Wars: No Prisoners,” the third on the series due out next May, as well as for “Fate of the Jedi: Outcast” by Aaron Allston. We don’t want to spoil any reading for anyone so be sure to check out the blurbs here if you’re up-to-date on ready and would like to see them.
Friday, October 24 sees the premiere of episode five of “The Clone Wars.” The episode, entitled Rookies, is the first clone-only episode, centering around Clone Commander Cody, Clone Captain Rex and their band of rookie clones as they find out even they are worth something.
Head over to SW.com for an Episode Guide, an interview with Justin Ridge, director of the episode, as well a Press Release announcing how well TCW has been going. Also, you can watch a preview of the episode below.
To celebrate the release of James Luceno’s “Millennium Falcon,” Star Wars.com is kicking of “Millennium Falcon” week:
“She may not look like much, but she’s got it where it counts — Han Solo’s understatement barely scratched the dinged surface of the Millennium Falcon, the dilapidated YT-1300 freighter that has been lovingly tinkered with and modified over generations to become the fastest hunk of junk in the galaxy.
It’s one of the most distinctive vessels of the Star Wars saga, and it is now finally getting the star treatment — the titular role in Star Wars: Millennium Falcon, a new hardcover novel by James Luceno, published by Del Rey Books. The book spans decades, covering the hitherto unrevealed past of the Falcon, from its “birth” at a Corellian assembly line, to its brief appearance on Coruscant in Episode III, to its checkered past bouncing from owner to owner to finally become Han Solo’s beloved starship. Piecing together the Falcon’s origins is part galactic history and part mystery, and it sets Solo off on a spirited planet-hopping adventure.
In celebration of the Falcon, StarWars.com is presenting a week’s worth of Millennium Falcon-focused content, starting with an preview excerpt of the novel that hits bookstores tomorrow.
So climb aboard, buckle up, and prepare to jump to hyperspace for the ultimate flight of the ship that launched a thousand fates.”
So, head on over to SW.com for the excerpt as well as more MF goodies throughout the week. Also, be sure to check out Pablo Hildago’s blog entry about the themed week.
The novel comes out tomorrow as a hardcover! Be sure to join in on the discussion on our forums here. Enjoy!
A year ago (well, a year ago and two days, really) EU Cantina.net, as well its podcast EUCast, were unleashed upon the internet! Many news posts, a few interviews, some fun events and a book series later EU Cantina.net is still looking bright. Who do we, the staff, of EU Cantina.net have to thank for that? Well, the loyal readers of the site, the people who send us news or help us out. I believe I can speak for the entire staff of EUC in saying that without help from fans of the Expanded Universe, as well as our friends and affiliates, none of this could be possible and for that we humbly thank all all EU fans out there!
Now, you may have noticed a little changed in color around EUC; just as the leaves of trees turn in fall to mark the end of summer, so does EU Cantina.net. The EUC Blue Summer has ended, but TFU, TCW and all that we celebrated live on. Being a part of those events, and the TV series, has been a truly amazing experience. EU Cantina will be going back to brown and tan, but you will notice that some pages have been consolidated, flash has been removed from the side-bar, countdowns are being placed for major EU works, and other great things are coming to EUC, including a Site Update post each Friday recapping everything that went on behind the scenes (Reviews put up, pages changed, etc.).
Again, thanks for a wonderful first year, and on behalf of the entire EU Cantina Team, may the force be with all EUC readers…always

A Preview Video (seen below) as well as the next issue of TCW online web-comic, “Agenda.” (Cover art seen above) Agenda is written by Pablo Hiladgo, has lettering by Grant Gould, with art by Katie Cook.
Our good friend Pete from Galactic Binders just send us this:
“GalacticBinder.com has just posted two new feature interviews you won’t want to miss. The first is with Clone Wars screenwriter Henry Gilroy. Henry lets readers in on all aspects of the Clone Wars film and new TV series, including what it’s like to work with George Lucas and Dave Filoni. Find out how the Sonny Chiba samurai film “Shogun’s Shadow” inspired the plot of the recent Clone Wars film.
Also make sure to check out the interview with prop expert and talented artist Tom Spina. The owner of Tom Spina Designs and a lifelong Star Wars fan, Tom has created some unbelievable Star Wars masks and displays, as well as functional art pieces like the Han Solo in Carbonite Desk. ”
The game is apparently in development for the Nintendo DS, and was given the classification on October 2. It was submitted by Activision Blizzard, who are the distributor of LucasArts products in Australia.
Star Wars Battlefront III has long been rumoured to be in development at UK-based studio Free Radical, though no official announcement has been made. Until now it was thought the game would be appearing on the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii, so the alleged existence of a DS version is quite surprising. We’ll report back once new information becomes available.”
Special thanks to our good friend Zee Zee for letting us know about the article!
UPDATE: (Original post 10/12/08):
We were just informed by the French SW site Star Wars Universe that Battlefront III is indeed in production. You can read the entire story, here, in French, or an English version within here.
We will do our best to get more information on a possible Battlefront III.
The EUCast crew would like to let listeners know that there will be no episode this week. However, EUCast will continue next week with not one, but two episodes!
Due to “The Clone Wars” series having so much material to discuss and speculate on each week, it was decided that instead of taking only a short time in each regular episodes there should be an EUCast episode type to review, discuss, and speculate TCW each week.
At this time there is no length, name, or typical release date known for TCW episodes of EUCast, but they will be weekly and include a guest along with Andrew, Austin, and Lawrence. We’re sorry for any inconvenience the lack of an episode this week may cause. Please feel free to check out the EUCast page for past episodes as well more links based on the show. A lot of changes are in store for EUCast as it approaches its first birthday, but they are all good and exciting– trust me.
Any questions, suggestions, or comments can be sent to eucast@eucantina.net
