Be sure to head over to the Reviews page to check out three new reviews from the EUCantina.net staff. We have Chris Pence continuing to look at the Knights of the Old Republic’s story arc Vector with issue #26 and he dives into reviewing Legacy #21. Also, Darth Skuldren has written a review for this past summers Coruscant Nights 1: Jedi Twilight, and discusses many interesting points in the EU concerning droids. Small spoilers are included with the reviews, but nothing that should discourage anyone from checking these stories out. You can find these reviews, along with a few others, here.

Our good friend Eddie just spotted a listing for “Star Wars Blueprints: Rebel Edition.” According to the page it’s due out July 20, 2009, has 10 pages and will be around $20.00. We’ll try and get more information on what may be the expansion of the Star Wars Blueprints: The Ultimate Collection, released early last month.

UPDATE:

We contacted Mr. Chris Trevas, who illustrated “The Ultimate Collection,” and he told us that this is indeed a follow up to the book seen in August, but nothing about it is concrete yet. We’ll let you know when an official go-ahead is made.

Random House’s Spring Catalog had an excerpt for the upcoming “Fate of the Jedi” series. It states:

“Fate of the Jedi launches a huge story arc, with heroic roles for the galaxy’s most beloved characters — Han Solo, Luke Skywalker, Leia Organa Solo, and their surviving children, Ben Skywalker and Jaina Solo. While Luke and Ben set off on the journey of a lifetime — of discovery and hardship, of obstacles and victories—the others remain in more familiar territory, dealing with the aftermath of the civil war that rocked the galaxy in the Legacy of the Force. “

Along with that it mentions that Jame’s Luceno’s “Millennium Falcon,” slated for October, will have a “Fate of the Jedi: Outcast” excerpt within it. They also say we can expect a seven-city author tour, a “free PDF sampler giveaway,” an “original prequel short story” and a live chat on StarWars.com.

Clubjade.net has found an excerpt of Patterns Of The Force on the Starwars.com forums, provided by Sue Rostoni.  It’s provided below, but beware of slight possible spoilers….

He looked up, reaching out with his Force sense. He stretched across to the far building. He angled a look down.

And there it was, far below and to his right: that tiny point of light, the barest whiff of the perfume of power, the merest tinkle of sound. Hair rose up on his half shaven head and down the backs of his arms. He smiled. Good try, Jedi, he thought, and stepped from the aperature into thin air.

This is from page 58 of 288 of the book.  She also confirms that the release date is indeed January 27th of next year.  Very cool!

Our good friend Zee Zee sent us two interviews with Star Wars authors.

The first is with new-comer Karen Miller at Dave Brandon’s Sci-fi Blog. Here’s an excerpt:

“Finally, how it felt to have been called up and asked to contribute to A Galaxy Far, Far Away?

A: To say that I am humbled, awed and terrified to be writing in the Star Wars universe is about the biggest understatement of the year. I saw the original Star Wars at the movies, in 1977. I was still in high school, and a firm geeky sci-fi fan. All these years later I still remember the feeling of seeing the rebel ship, then the Star Destroyer, flying over our heads. I think I knew, on some deep level, that I’d just seen something very important. And, in all seriousness, the film changed my life. The people I met, the things I did, the dreams I pursued, because of Star Wars, have shaped me and influenced me and truly blessed me. And now I’ve been given this incredible chance to play in that world, to play with those characters … I’m beside myself. Terrified, as I say, because as a fan myself I know just how passionate and dedicated and protective fans are about Star Wars. But so happy. Especially since I’m playing in the prequel era, and I really love that era. I love the nobility and the tragedy and angst and the foreshadowed doom of the last days … which probably says I’m a whacko broad, but there you are. J I know there are people who love to groan and complain about the prequel films, but I honestly enjoy them. There’s so much wonderful character work in there. To me, they’ve been a great gift. I can only hope that the stories I’m telling do justice to the world that George Lucas created, and gave us.”

You can view the entire Karen Miller interview here. Enjoy!

The other is with TFU author Sean Williams on the Adventures in Sci-Fi Publishing Podcast, which can be heard here.

Straight from author Joe Schreiber’s blog:

“I’m interrupting Stillwater – which is about halfway posted, more of which to come later tonight — to drop some news I’ve been dying to release for, oh, about five months now.

I’m going to be writing a Star Wars horror novel for Lucasfilm, to be released in November of 2009. And although I’ve been specifically asked not to talk about the content of the book, I can tell you that A) It’s going to be very scary and B) It’s hopefully going to be released on the same day that my original horror novel The Black Wing comes out.

I’m thrilled (to death, obviously) to have this opportunity, and almost as thrilled to tell you about it here. Stay tuned for all the updates. “

Now that is very interesting.. We’ll keep you posted on how it will, if at all, fit into the EU and try and get more information about it. Please be aware: This was announced on SW.com, but the information Mr. Schreiber placed on his blog is much more detailed.

Hello everyone! Here at EUCantina.net, we offered timelines for the Star Wars movies, books, comics, video games, and television series. Now, we’ve condensed all those timelines into one large timeline for everyone’s convenience. We’ve also put together a reviews page for all the reviews for the media we have on the site; the reviews can also be accessed through the timeline, and will be continously added to by the EUCantina.net staff. You can get to the timeline and reviews through the EU Chronology menu option under “Features”. Be sure to check out both the new timeline page and review page, with a new review on the first issue of Vector by Chris Pence! Until next time, may the Force be with you.

Author Alex Irvine recently updated his blog with information about his standalone novel “set in the time of the ancient Jedi Knights” set for release in the fall of 2010, as announced here. He stated:

Lucasfilm has announced an extension of their deal with Del Rey until 2013, and yours truly is going to be writing a novel set just before the Knights of the Old Republic storyline. Since I am one of those guys who saw the movie (you know, The Movie; you know the one I mean) a dozen times the summer it came out, this is kind of a dream come true. Viva la Geek! Plus, there are some interesting open spaces in the continuity from that period, which give me a lot of room to work.

A Kotor era novel!? Start speculating, my friends!

Author Paul Kemp updated his Livejournal with a little bit of information about his upcoming Star Wars book:

I am allowed to mention that my Star Wars novel will feature the Jedi Jaden Korr as one of the lead characters.

As many of you might know, his novel includes a yet heavily explored character that has only appeared a couple times. Jaden Korr definitely fits this and I guess we’ll have to wait until 2010 to find out more about Kyle Katran’s one-time apprentice. Feel free to start speculating away on this novel within our Literature and Media forums here.
