We all know Mr. Leland Chee as the guy who make sure everything fits in “Star Wars;” the “Holocron Keeper, really. Well, WIRED Magazine’s Chris Baker wanted to know more about him and his job, and they certainly got plenty. Wired recently released a a six page interview with Mr. Chee, discussing everything from”The Clone Wars” to “The Force Unleashed” and everything in between. Here’s an excerpt:
“To Star Wars fans, Chee is the Keeper of the Holocron, arguably the leading expert on everything that happened a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. His official title is continuity database administrator for the Lucas Licensing arm of Lucasfilm—which means Chee keeps meticulous track of not just the six live-action movies but also cartoons, TV specials, scores of videogames and reference books, and hundreds of novels and comics.”
Check out the full sit-down here to learn how Leland makes it all fit in the galaxy far, far away.
Well, even as Expanded Universe fans we know it’s not perfect. So does Patrick Copper, who wrote an article for Topless Robot listing, according to him, the eight most horrid things in the Expanded Universe of “Star Wars.” I don’t personally agree with all of them, but it’s quite an interesting read. Head over to Topless Robot and check it out right here.
On July 3rd, 2008, LucasFilm filed for trademarks for the following:
Star Wars The Old Republic
Star Wars Sagas
Star Wars Legends
The trademarks have been registered for “Entertainment services provided on-line by means of global and local area networks, namely, providing interactive computer game software, interactive video game software and interactive computer games and interactive video games, all on-line by means of global and local area networks”
You can view a screenshot of the trademark for “Star Wars the Old Republic” here. It is important to note that these trademarks were registered in the same way as the trademark for “Star Wars Galaxies”. These are officially registered with the United States Patent and Trademark Office. It appears that at least one of these titles may be used to create a new online Star Wars game. “The Old Republic” title makes me think about that KOTOR MMO everyone’s been talking about.
Update: In a forum on Ahazi.org, a user has posted that he took a survey on surveyspot.com about a Star Wars MMO called Star Wars: The Old Republic. He lists some of the features described in the survey here. This post was made long before the names from the trademarks surfaced.

This week, because the Legacy Of The Force seems to be the hot topic (and it’s ending in less than two weeks!), I decided that it would be nice to re-hash the Aaron Allston and Troy Denning interview on SW.com awhile back. Enjoy!

Our friend Zee Zee sent us a this about SW Book’s latest editorial for the EUC readers:
“The article is titled “Always in motion is the future” and can be found here
http://www.swbooks.co.uk/articles/editorials/always-in-motion-is-the-future.htm.
Using Mike’s data, I argue that Star Wars book fans need Luke, Leia and Han to get
involved in big galactic wars as they are less likely to be interested in stories
where “the Big Three” are not featured and more inclined not to be conversant with
the key plot points of these books.” And it concludes that: “As Star Wars book fans
we relish stories that feature our three heroes, not only do more of us read the
books but we are substantially more aware of their plot points. So what does this
mean for the future for Luke, Leia and Han? Unfortunately, it means that even after
seventeen years of continuous storytelling, we are still not sick of them and they
will have to continue getting involved in big galactic wars for a while longer
because if they are not a part of the story, then we are less likely to be
interested in the story and, which is worse still, we will be not be as fully
conversant with the key plot points!”
Before posting this article I contacted Mike for permission to use the survey data
in this way and to ask for his advice, opinions and suggestions on my argument. I am
grateful to Mike for the time he gave in answering my questions and for his comments
(some of which have been included in the article).”
So, go ahead and check the very interesting article on SW Book.co.uk.
