MTV’s Gaming blog has a preview for both “Star Wars: The Clone Wars–Lightsaber Duels” and “Star Wars: The Clone Wars: Jedi Alliance” written by Tracy John. Here’s an excerpt:

“While there was some lightsaber-slashing in “Lego Star Wars: The Complete Saga,” “Star Wars The Clone Wars: Lightsaber Duels,” developed by Krome Studios, is a lightsaber-based fighting game. During the demo, I played two different duels against a LucasArts rep — one as Kit Fisto against Obi-Wan Kenobi, and the other as General Grievous against Ahsoka Tano. Players can choose from hero and villain characters with different combo abilities and strengths, including newcomers Ahsoka Tano and Asajj Ventress, as well as various locations (including Tatooine and Teth). Once players have made their choices, every fight begins with a graphically impressive cut scene taken directly from the movie or TV show, and from there, the winner is the best two out of three.”

So, we all knew that Lucasarts was making a video game for “Star Wars: The Clone Wars.” But did you know they were making two!

That’s right, according to IGN the first is a DS hand-held exclusive entitled ” Star Wars The Clone Wars: Jedi Alliance,” it apparently thrusts you into a new storyline branch from the Clone Wars universe and challenges you to use your stylus to wield your deadly lightsaber. Head over to IGN’s interview with Lucasarts’ Feargus Carroll to learn more about the gameplay and events behind the game.

The second game, entitled “Star Wars: The Clone Wars–Lightsaber Duels,” is a Nintendo Wii exclusive which allows you to play the duels of the Clone Wars, as seen above, with the Wii-mote. For more, check out this interview on IGN with Krome Studios’ Ken Fox here. For more on Wii controls of TCW–Lightsaber Duels, see Iron Fist’s post below.

To wrap it up, we’re going to see two video games for The Clone Wars; one will be based on the movie/series itself (TCW:–Lightsaber Duels), while the other will use the characters but set them in a different story during the Clone Wars (The Clone Wars: Jedi Alliance.) Keep your eyes open for more on the two games’ official site.

“This in from IGN via Kotaku. It appears that the Clone Wars game on the Nintendo Wii may not have the sort of lightsaber controls that fans may be looking for.

The promise of a Wii Lightsaber game has hung in the air since the Wii hit the shelves. We think this is the game that delivers on that promise”. That’s Ken Fox, from Krome Studios, developers of the upcoming Clone Wars game for the Wii. Excited? Cool those jets. He also says this: “We’ve tried to make the lightsaber control as intuitive and fun as possible. It’s not a Lightsaber simulator, but when you swing your Wii remote left to right; your character does the same. You use the thumbstick on the nunchuck to move your character and swing the Wii remote to swing your Lightsaber”.

It looks like we’ll have something similar to The Force Unleashed in terms of controls although it seems that the correlation between “Wiimote” movements and lightsaber attacks has been dimished.
