Do you ever associate people with their avatars? I rarely have faces to associate with names, so I generally associate people with their avatars. And it totally throws me off when somebody changes one! Like these are how I picture most people, based on their avatars at one time or another:

OMB - Obi-Wan

SoS- Ben

Darth Skuldren - Palpatine

Mandy - Jaina

Autobon - Trooper/Mandalorian

Salaris - Han

Caedus - Jacen

Kal Skirata - Kal

Reepicheep - Reepicheep (sorry...I do indeed think of you as a mouse Wink)

JP - Chewie

Judicar - Jacen/Caedus

Aush - Anakin Solo

Etc. Sorry for anyone left out, I'm just naming them as they come to mind. I'm going to assume I'm not the only one that does that. Any other thoughts on the matter? Smile

Hmm that's interesting. I guess I do tend to associate folks w/ their avatars at times. At first I thought this was a post about Avatar:TLA, but you fooled me! Laughing Laughing Laughing The only reason I picked mine was b/c it was pretty and girly, lol! Have you *seen* my blog? It looks like the pepto bismol bottle vomited on a wordpress template!

I do identify people with their avatars to some extent, but it's pretty naturally tied to how prolific posters people are. I think on that list I identify half of the people with their avatars.

I do the same thing with avatars, which is why when "Dark lord of the Sith" Skuldren put an Ashoka banner for his signiture, I had to laugh.

You think of me as a mouse? That's so funny? Laughing
But yeah, I do sometimes associate people with their avatars. Not always, like I don't imagine OMB with a grey beard, but I imagine SoS looking about like Luke.

The POWER of my avatar pwns all!

And yes, I visualize all of you just as you avatar currently appears. Changing them does cause me to change how I perceive you, though I do recollect sometimes what people 'really' look like on the odd chance that I've seen pictures of them.

And it's funny to think that I perceive myself as posting with a pissed off Wookiee and a sword fighting mouse. Laughing

Of course Autoban now looks like a Mandalorian bum living on the streets of New York...tough times for the Fett Very Happy

So, should I change back to Ben? Cad Bane does contrast with my name...back to Ben I go!

And, for a few of you I picture your avatar, but for anyone who I've communicated with vocally, I can't get that picture of you anymore, one pops into my head based on your voice.

Hmm...
I liked your old avatar better, OMB. Not the Cad Bane one, but the one before.

Laughing The reason I chose my avatar is because I was trying my luck at growing a beard when I first found the forums, it was coming out patchy and not very wholesome looking, and that should explain my signature! Laughing Besides, I was very taken with the idea of a Wookie Jedi. And I agree with your assesment of Autoban, I imagine him living in the "East Village"; where all the "weirdos" live. Very Happy

Don't change it, I love your banner Autoban. Makes me think of Fett as the Punisher. It has a very good vibe.
