I rarely ever cry over books. Only three times that I can remember. Once while I was reading a Left Behind book, then when Anakin Solo died, and when Mara died. Sad

I shed one lone tear when Anakin Solo died. I felt betrayed and confused and angry and felt like barganing. I literally went through the stages of grief.

I'm still going through stages of grief. I believe the one I'm in now is called "denial" *sigh*

I went back to anger a long time ago on that one and I've been there for quite some time.

I say I'm in denial because I honestly still can't wrap my mind around the fact that he's dead. In the days when I do accept it, I get too mad to function. Is it a sign of mental issues that I get this torn up over a fictional character? Wink

But Star by Star was still one of the most epic books of the NJO.

It was the first death that brought me to reality. I was sad when Chewie died because of his status as a classic but Anakin and Han are my favorites and when he died it was...it brought Star Wars away from the classic feel and hit me with something darker and it let me know that they're no longer afraid to kill characters that are in the spotlight. It also let me know that George is still in charge and what he says goes, no matter how ridiculous. I'm still not over his death. I don't know if I'll get over it.

Agreed. As much as I love reading all the EU books, I can't pick up one from Legacy era without sighing and thinking how much better it would surely be if Anakin had lived. Wow......I really need to let this go. But I don't want to. Sad

Well, the DN travisty and the whole poorly thought out LotF series would never have happened if Anakin would've died, and if they'd have been smart enough not to kill him then they probably would've been smart enough not to make him the one to turn. Jacen could've still been the one captured and the one to kill Onimi at the end of NJO, he could've done the 5 year journey, and a lot could've been the same but the shining light of the Order could've lived, Tahiri's sanity would've been ok, and the Killiks would've been pushed into the background.

Yep, LotF was poor planning to the extreme. But I suppose there's no use moping about it. It only makes me bitter.

Back to the original subject of great EU moments, I loved the bit in Traitor where Jacen sees Anakin's Force ghost. And, yes, I do tend to believe that it really was Anakin. But part of the reason that it's great is because no one can really prove whether it was him or not. It was sort of left up to the reader. Interesting.

Ganner goes without saying. Wink And if we're talking NJO, let's not forget Corran's duel with Shedao Shai in Ruin. Even if it didn't turn out so well for Ithor. Sad

Yeah that was so cool!!!

Honestly I think the book Traitor just counts as a favorite moment as a whole, because rarely do we get one that perfectly written. And one of my other favorites are the Luke/Shimmra fight and the Jacen/Onimi fight in TUF. Amazing Very Happy

I noticed there aren't that many great moment from the prequel era books. How about in Wild Space when Obi-Wan gets knocked off his speeder bike (or whatever it was, I don't have the book handy) and is about to get up close and personal with Coruscant's pavement and the thought that goes through his mind is " Oh my. This is going to hurt quite a lot". Don't know why, but it cracked me up. Smile
