Okay, the stories behind my names. Read on at your own risk:
My Nicknames:
Skinny Nicknames:
Pencil – My friends decided I needed a nickname for being skinny
Sharpie – I didn’t like Pencil, so this was born - and it's my favorite and most popular nickname
Stickbug – A friend compared me to a stickbug
Toothpick – Again, a comparison
Beanpole – Yup, same here
Zipper – In Atlantis, there is a line about being so skinny, you look like a zipper
Regular Nicknames:
Reese Cup – Reese rhymed with my childhood nickname of Leesie, and hence Reese Cup
Reese – It is often shortened to Reese
Eckis – My friend’s little brother couldn’t pronounce my name right
Ellis – And his dad thought that was funny, so started calling me Ellis *shrugs*
Johnny – Were I a boy, my name would be Jonathan…when my friend found that out, she decided to call me Johnny
Family Nicknames:
Leesie – Fam made it up…short for Elyse
Lucy – Derivative of Leesie
Ree or Ree-Ree – Comes from the above Reese
Gears – I honestly don’t remember
Recent Nicknames:
Walking Stick – Some friends and I were ‘exploring the great unknown’ in their backyard, and one announced that she was “Good Heap Injun”…we thought this was hysterical since she said it backwards, and started handing out Indian names to everyone…I got stuck with Walking Stick because of the skinny issue again
Stubborn Control-Freak – I am, and thus I was dubbed as such
Chum – When a friend of mine and I started to hang out with each other, someone asked when we had become ‘so chummy’…we thought it was funny, so we started calling each other Chum
Hardhead – My dad likes to use this one
Know-It-All – A certain family I know calls me this because I always keep them in the Loop
Queen Bee – I won some spelling bees when I was younger, and some friends poked fun at me for it until I started purposely catching all their spelling mistakes…they jabbed back with Queen Bee
Agent Sharpie – Combination of a joke on my last name and the previously mentioned Sharpie
007 – Comes from my last name *ahem*
Elsie May – People always read my name wrong and pronounce it Elsie...Doctor's Offices, Teachers, etc. I hate it, and my friends picked up on it and added May...grrr…
Stalin – Once a friend asked if I was stalling, and I thought she asked if I was Stalin! Her nickname was already Hitler from a previous set of jokes, and so Stalin stuck
Q – A shortened form of Queen Bee
Happy Feet – I can’t ever keep one of my legs from bouncing…it’s constantly bouncing up and down, or, if my legs are crossed, my foot is shaking from side to side at lightning speed
Crazy Number 2 – A friend and I decided that we were crazy…which is true…so we became Crazy Number 1 and Crazy Number 2
Sloth – I don’t like to wake up
Stick Figure – A friend and I were exchanging mock insults, and when this one was thrown my way, it stuck
Elsie the Great – I can’t totally remember, but it had something to do with we used to add titles to the ends of our names for fun depending on how we were acting at the moment…like, Elyse the Generous and such…at some point this one stuck *shrugs* _________________
