Like I said by ep 2 the "look" of the characters feels more right. But for me, my daughter just turned 7, and so I have a hard time seeing him as a 9 year old. He looks too 6-7 to me. Padme though in ep 1 looks almost the same as she does by ep 3- (Portman ages well)
Again it's not the Romance- just that I know these characters are destined to be together because of the moment shared in ep 1. I just have a hard time buying that scene.
That aside (and Jar Jar) Ep1 has some of my fav scenes as well.

To me, Padmé looked about 15/16 in TPM. Nevermind that most girls are coming out of their awkward stage at that age. There are no awkward stages in SW. Wink I think Jake Lloyd was eight when TPM was filmed. Only one year off.

And don't look at it as destiny, look at it as one possible outcome. At outcome that happened to.....occur. Smile

If you're bored one day, you can always pop in Empire and Jedi and count how many times Luke is told that it's his "destiny". Very Happy

Hahah that'd have been a fun drinking game when I was younger. (Don't drink anymore- consequence of starting in grade 6.)

Seriously, I noticed that like three years ago. Luke has so many destinies it's not even funny. Wink

Do or do not- Luke was destined to try!

Phantom Menace has always gotten a bad rap, it's unfairly maligned by the media and the internet.

Jar Jar never bothered me, I kinda dig him. There, I said it.

OTOH, Jake "yippee!" Lloyd's TERRIBLE acting just about ruins every scene he's in. I cannot fathom how that simp actually won that role being that awful.

Qui-Gon absolutely makes the movie though, he's an incredible character and one of the best Jedi in the Order. His death is why Palpatine eventually took over the galaxy, I'm convinced that's what lead to the eventual destruction of the Republic. I love that character and Liam Neeson was AMAZING in his performance. I was a giddy fanboy at his return to SW in the first and third episodes of "Mortis"

My least favorite aspects of TPM:

- Midi-chlorians
- Ben Quadinaros

One has to wonder when TPM VHS tapes are scattered all over Goodwill like a discarded plague. Neutral

VHS tapes are scattered all over Goodwill because no one watches VHS tapes anymore. LOL

Ah, but if that were the case, you would see all the Star Wars tapes scattered about. And I only ever see TPM. Here's my theory:

People can say it's because it's a VHS. But I don't see the other ones anywhere. I mean, I see them...but not very often. I suppose it's because everyone in creation bought TPM when it came out, but now that they're cleaning out their VHS tapes, nobody cares about it. The OT is much less likely to be discarded, even in VHS format. And most people won't have AotC in VHS. And I don't even know if RotS was released on VHS. Perhaps, but I've never seen it.

Just a guess, though. Smile

I've seen a lot of Episode IV-VI VHSs at goodwill/Value Village. Very rarely do I see Episode II tapes though.

Episode III was not released on VHS. It irritated many fans (not me, but others online) who wanted a complete VHS collection.

Aw, sadness. I have them all on VHS, even AotC, except RotS. Yeah, kinda disappointing for collecting purposes. But oh, well. I guess nobody will care in a few years when VHS's have been totally wiped off the map.
