I thought it'd be fun to stop and take a look at the valuable lessons we've all learned from the EU. I've been flipping through the Bantam books and the NJO recently and was quite amazed that the things I'd overlooked the last time I'd read them. Oh sure, there are the lessons like "super weapons are bad" and "no matter what, the Solo kids will always get kidnapped" that we all learned better than we ever wanted to, but I also tried to look deeper to find the hidden morals the authors stuck in there. To start with, a more obvious one ....... Very Happy

The Thrawn Trilogy: YOU WILL KILL LUKE SKYWALKER. If this is too difficult, a clone will do. Or, you know, you could avoid this whole thing and just marry him. Laughing

The Jedi Academy Trilogy: If you blow up a planet, you get coffee and doughnuts. (Don't believe me? Champions of the Force, page 249)

Anyone else have any deep insight? Wink

Wel....Wat i saw was that...
Especialy during the Yuzhaan Vong war
Every small defeat(personal defeat fr a main character) was followed by a huge victory over-all....and vice versa......IF the Crabbies managed to destroy sth imp....Mara managed to give birth to a son....and this is just one example...this happned a lot.

Any large surprise attack against the galaxy's current government will initially succeed. Continued success is dependent upon...

1.) Avoiding a confrontation with Luke Skywalker
2.) New technology that overpowers galaxy's current tech
3.) Avoiding assassination

1) if you are a Jedi and going to get nearly blown up make sure your lightsaber looks like a swoop handle so you have an excuse for your new look

2) when captured and forced to work in a mine always throw a rock towards the ceiling to make sure you know which way is up before planning an escape

3) If you are facing a Sarlacc make sure your last name is Fett, just in case it eats you

4) Art History majors are most likely to by tactical masterminds who can achieve world/galactic domination

An entire lesson on how to set the perfect Jedi trap can be found in the ROTS novel. So I learned that. Should come in handy. Razz

I just learned how to slice the femoral artery through Beskar'gam

You NEVER know when a skill like that will be called on!

Well perhaps in a fight over the last copy of the newest Star Wars novel. Or you might need it to fend off someone attacking you with the Holiday Special (que Monty Python's "How to defend yourself from fresh fruit" anyone?) Razz

Just finished 501st. I think I've finally discovered the moral of most of Karen Traviss' book: cloning people just isn't worth it. Wink

Yeah, you have to do quite a bit of digging to get to that moral. Rolling Eyes

I know, right? Wink

Another lesson from 501st: human males will want to avoid strills. Very Happy

I'm not sure that lesson works. I mean Lord Mird's owner is a male. Mird hangs out with all the clones. I think the lesson is: If you are near a strill, wear your helmet.

Supposedly strills smell awful only to male humans and not females.
