But yet the Bantam years when Luke refused to kill anyone because he wanted to "bring them back" were pathetic. Even so, I'd have felt much better about killing Jacen if someone, anyone, had actually tried to bring him back to the light. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I recall most of the characters being in denial about his becoming a Sith early in the series, but then later, they're all of a sudden cool with taking him down. What gives?

Sigh, oh LotF, how you disappointed Star Wars fans everywhere. How unbelievable some of that whole thing was. How many plot holes, how many things we can see that bring up issues and how they make big projects like NJO absolutely pointless because Jacen was that series hero. Oh LotF, how I wish you'd never happened.

See I see the NJO more then ever as Jacen's TCWs

And the cool Padme- the Jedi acceptance that all Sith belong dead.

Yeah, I guess. I just thought it went too fast from, "Oh no! Jacen may be dabbling in the dark side! Poor Jacen! I guess we'll cut him some slack. He's been having a rough time lately. And, who knows, maybe he's just in love or something whacky like that," to "He's a Sith! He must DIE! Whoops, Luke can't do it, he'll be 'tainted'. Hey, Jaina, mind taking out your twin? Thanks, the universe appreciates it"

I think there was more of a gap than that. People tried talking to him once it was clear which direction he was going. I think the bigger problem was how much they denied his path until it was so blatantly obvious.

I don't know that death was inevitable, but they could have stripped him of the force(didn't Luke develop that ability?).

Yeah, or at least imprison him with Ysalmiri surrounding his cell.

Or at the very least have some sort of emotional scene with Leia, Han, Luke, or Jaina begging him to come back to the light. I would've loved that.

Heck I'm still hoping for some lingering emotions for Jacen from ANY of them. I mean Han- took how many books to get over Chewie? Luke how many with Mara? Jacen's being ignored it seems. I'd like Luke's feelings explored instead of denied as they seem to be.

I agree. The argument "He wasn't our Jacen anymore" is kinda being used to excuse the lack of emotion.

See it was wrong for Luke. Yet not wrong for Jaina???.

I don't think it's a matter of it being right for Jaina and not for Luke. It's just that Luke would likely go dark if he killed Jacen, but Jaina wouldn't.

Right...because Dark Journey SOOOOO wasn't about her coming dangerously close to the dark side...

Yeah, I thought that the supposed danger of Luke being "tainted" was pretty....well, lame.

If they wanted Jaina to kill poor Jacen, there's no reason why Jaina and Luke couldn't have gone together to confront Jacen and in the ensuing battle Luke would have been wounded and become incapacitated, which would have even fit Jacen's visions of Betrayal. Then the twins could have had a duel with it's (to me) negative ending. Thus, Luke wouldn't have looked like a wimp (but perhaps a little weak, why such thing would have been no-go I guess) and Jacen could have shined a moment before his death, and later everyone could have argued endlessly whether Jaina is now more powerful than Luke... Razz

Cause Jania as his twin sister, and Mara's Apprentice has less attachment? See I couldn't buy it. It doesn't make sense. It would have maybe had Jania used any of the Mando training she ARGUED she'd need to do the job no one else could. I would say these are signs too Luke missed- she was preparing to kill Jacen from the start- his letting her train was about as close to signing the assassination slip. After all when she did it she was sneaking into a GA ship and killed it's commander- hmm like Tahiri killed Palleaon and then had to stand trial...

I'm telling you it's fishy. Smile

They're stretching for edgy and dark stories and in pursuit of that they're throwing away characters and botching what they're doing.

*sigh* Oh, the dark, twisted path Del Rey hath begun to trod.
