Feel free to discuss your favorite board games or card games or any new games you've discovered that you think are worth sharing.
Lately I've been introduced to a few new games by my step-grandparents. One is a card game that requires tow normal decks or cards and is called Golf. You get nine cards and arrange them face down in a 3x3 block, flipping over three cards of your choosing. The object is to get up and down rows of three of a kind or low point cards because lowest score wins. It's pretty fun.
Another card game they like to play is Five Crowns which requires a special deck. It has a new suit: stars, and doesn't have aces or 2's. Each player starts with three cards in the first had, four in the next, and so on all the way up to kings (12 cards). The wild cards are jokers and what ever card corresponds to that hand (first hand 3's are wild, then 4's, and so on). This is another low score wins game where you discard three or more of a kind to get rid of points, or runs.
Then there is the Monopoly Card game (special deck) which is surprisingly fun. It goes a lot faster than a regular monopoly game but still has most of the fun elements (property, money, houses) with some new elements (steal property, double rent, birthday cards). The goal is to get three complete sets of property, first one to do so wins, however the challenge is that you can steal other people's property and all money is in million dollar denominations. It's really fun.
Lastly is a board game called Blokus. It's kind of like Tetris in that you have little Tetris shapes and you have to connect your pieces, but in this instance it's corner to corner. The ideas is to try and lay down as many of your pieces as you can, which gets harder and harder as you fill up the board, especially when your opponents try and cut you off.
I'd recommend all of them as fun games. _________________
