Me and a friend have been discussing an alternate EU recently where a time traveller, ala Crosscurrent, goes back to the LOTF time period. It would probably happen during Betrayal, prior to Jacen going to the Lumiya's hideout and falling completely to the dark side. The idea would be "what if this person traveled back in time and prevented Jacen's fall to the dark side by killing Lumiya before she could turn him?"
From there we decided that the series would continue because there is still the issue with Corellia and the GA. Plus Ben still needs to go through that "Jedi trial" period. My friend was in favor of Jaina taking Jacen's path, and falling to the dark side but not becoming a Sith, just a dark Jedi. The idea would be their twin bond gets activated again, and Jacen's grayness pushes Jaina back into the dark side.
Now my idea was to put Alema as the central badguy, pushing her up to take Lumiya's spot, so then we'd end up with some hybrid partnership between Alema and Jaina as darksiders causing trouble.
Might've been interesting. In my opinion, LOTF was a lousy series, so surely this could've been better.
