Interesting. If they do well, I hope they can take over the Mandos completely. Here's hoping.

Please elaborate Reep what do you mean? I could see this any of a few ways.

I hope that Del Rey can find an author who's passionate about the Mandos to continue her storylines. It would probably have to be someone new, who doesn't have other obligations and who could focus all his/her novels on them. It would probably take a while for them to be great at it, but I think it would be a good idea.

Yes I agree.
Though I hope they can at the same time bring in new characters that they can build a new series off of and gradually move the focus from Kals group to the 501st. For me the point of the stories ended up being about their desertion, and their feelings and emotions about everything that had happened to them along the way.

Though I do want to continue their adventure, but if the series stays 501st focused with only

in the 501st Special Forces then

the story will have no real reason to remain with the 501st.

Man I just finished 501st, and then I decide to browse this section of the forum and find this thread. In the future I'm going have to check this section of the forum more often!

It really sucks that she won't write another book. It was a pain waiting for the next book to come out after ORder 66, and now its even worse that no book may ever come. I wish she could at least release her book as some sort of fan fiction that could at least be unofficial cannon until a new book was officially published.

For the series the only thing she's done now with her withdrawal from SW is bought the next author time to fit things with TCWAS- since it'll have moved beyond the mandos by then.

I suppose. I still don't like the idea that she left, it just doesn't seem right for her not to finish her own series.

If you read the story on the front page, it sounds like Imperial Commando 2 will likely be cancelled. The good new is we're supposed to get something "we've been waiting for". I'm intriqued.

I'm betting that they are just saying this to "see" the reaction- I mean if it went over without an uproar I could see them pulling it. But I don't see that being the case, I see fans getting upset- well all who ENJOYED the series thus far anyway.

I'lll be beyond urked if they cancel it. Take all the time you need! In fact the longer the better! Let continuity set a little Smile

I've yet to read Republic Commando (and Imperial Commando), so I'm a little indifferent on the book being cancelled, but I am excited about this new thing that "we've all been waiting for". Boba Fett and/or Mirta Gev perhaps?

I'd like to know "what we've all been waiting for" because I can pretty much guarantee it's not "what I've been waiting for." I don't see any problem with jumping ahead a few years to wrap up the series. I'd like to see some closure on the characters.

I think she meant the book wouldn't be out for a couple of years, not the storyline. I think the point was that she feels two-three years after IR1(our time, not EU time), we won't care anymore. That would be wrong. I would be very bummed to have those characters storylines left up in the air.
