Am able to play this on our old Dell computer running XP, and it works great! Only complaint I have so far, is the horrible controls! It could not be more difficult to run and shoot and jump. And I can't find a way to change it! Arg.

That midi music just cracks me up, not to mention the horrible sea-sickening graphics! I mean literally, they make me dizzy! But you've got to love it anyway. Smile

Edit: Okay, so I've found a way to edit the control configuration, and this would make me a very happy camper, if I can just get it to work...

I think I played a demo of this game long ago. It was like Doom only Star Wars and with the addition of Force Powers.

I thought the original dark forces didn't have Force powers. Are you thinking of Dark Forces II perhaps?

I never had a copy of my own but one of my friends had it and we'd always play it when I visited. One of the first SW games I ever played and I really enjoyed it (very fun when you use the unlock all weapons cheat), though I have to be honest, I always was more of an X-Wing series fan (the other game this friend introduced me to).

Yes, exactly like Doom. It is Doom: Star Wars style. Smile

Extremely addictive game, I must say. I started out not liking it so much, and I've become completely hooked. I should finish it tomorrow, and then I'll be on my way to the sequel. I'm going to completely game myself out this summer. Smile

Oh, and no, there are no Force powers in this particular game. Probably in the sequel. But the weapons are pretty awesome. Smile

Do you get a lightsaber or is it all blasters?

Yep, all blasters, grenades, mines, and missiles at this point. Doesn't make them any less impressive, though. Smile

Okay, so I've been having a blast with Dark Forces on my second go round. Yes, I felt it necessary to play through some of the levels again, seeing as how frustrated I was with the controls in the beginning. I also made it a point to find the two easter egg areas, both of which take a little bit of patience, trial and error, and retrial and error to find. So below you'll see the various screenshots of my eventual success:

And yes, those were taken with a digital camera. For whatever reason, I am unable to get screenshots of this particular game. *shrugs*

The first picture was on the 4th level, and once you finally reached the secret area (which was the hardest part), there was only a chain hanging from the ceiling, but no Ewok. You still had to open a hidden door to see him imprisoned there.

The graffiti pictures were from the 7th level, and were all over a certain section of the level. They are, no surprise, within the vicinity of the second easter egg Ewok. This was, in my opinion, the harder of the two to access, seeing as this secret area was on a timer. If you didn't get there fast enough, the door slid closed. And it was very tough to get there in that short amount of time. Anyway, again, once you enter the secret area, there is nothing there but a chain. No Ewok. So apparently this was the creators' signal for a hidden furry creature. In this case, unlike the 4th level, you couldn't just open a hidden door, but you had to blow open the crate with a grenade. And inside was the second Ewok. Notice in the last picture the crazy face he makes every few seconds. The first Ewok did the same, I just didn't take a picture of it.

Anyway, not that anyone wanted to know all of that, but I thought it was fun. And I hear there's still one more place of "Ewoks suck" graffiti that I'm determined to find. Smile

Poor Ewok, that must have been the face he made just seconds before Mara threw that thermal detonator at him and blew him into tiny furry pieces. Laughing
