Kirk (present) and Spock alpha (regular Spock) both have shared memories of WHAT SHOULD BE. As does Spock from the present- remember he melded with the Romulan from the future- so HE'S got info from the Romulans that THEY WILL NEED to correct the timeline. My Trek fan speculation here is that they will play with the franchise a bit then end it with them fixing everything. _________________ -Bring on your thousands, one at a time or all in a rush. I understand what you are saying but at the same time this seems overly complicated. Then again this is coming from a SW fan where the franchise is cooking along fairly well as opposed to Trek fans who are dealing with a franchise that hasn't had tons of new stuff coming out lately to interest new fans. So I guess I can understand the move from the view of renewing interest in the franchise. Also great picture of a Star Wars vs Star Trek space battle. _________________

But it's clear for the Trek that all fans knew to still exist the time line must, I say MUST, be fixed. As it stands it existed only to reset after Alpha Spock travels back in time. It's already convoluted from the start. But the memories from the original timestream exist in the AU- which is a paradox in and of itself. (AHH I'm glad they keep timetravel simple in SW) It only makes sense for the franchise to move forward with this. I wouldn't be too surprised to learn we have a later move that will fix the time stream while finding some new spin on things. Darth Skuldren Moderator Joined: 04 Feb 2008 Posts: 5760 Location: Missouri I wonder, does the whole timeline thing only bother Trek fans who read the books, or does this bother Trek fans who watch the movies and television shows? Personally I just watch the movies and television shows, I don't have any compulsion to read the books, and therefore continuity/timeline problems don't bother me at all. I'm perfectly fine with the new Star Trek alteration. _________________

Jedi Joe Master Joined: 11 Jun 2009 Posts: 1349 Star Trek does have a variety of novels, but unlike Star Wars, they don't count as canon. I just watch the Trek movies, and sometimes Enterprise or TNG when they're on. I'd rather get it over with in a set of movies rather than following everything on a long-lasting TV show.

I started recording ALL the Trek for my Dad while he worked graveyards as a kid, when I started reading SW books I've read a few of his- they are not all bad- the continuity- is non existant, up till about 08 or so, from there they got good- TOO GOOD- the Borg became so powerful they wiped out half the alpha quadrant, then evolve to a HIGHER BEING and are no longer a threat- which left the Galaxy closer to SW then the utopia we know Trek as. But in BOTH formats timetravel has factored significantly to the plots- either that or mirror dimensions. _________________ -Bring on your thousands, one at a time or all in a rush.
