Looks like I got the droid revolution of sorts that I'd been hoping for! I thought it was a very good "threat to the galaxy" that they always allude to. The droids were creepy and they were intimidating, but the only thing I wish would have been better explained was how one little colony came up with such a thing. But that's a minor point, and I'll let it lie.

I was impressed with the portrayal of all the different sides in the story. Jedi, Sith, Military, Politician, Mandalorian, Smuggler, Droid, etc. They were very well balanced, and I don't think any one got page time over the others, which was a nice change of pace.

Shigar was fleshed out well, in my opinion, and I felt that he was leaning toward a darker tendency. Perhaps the leader of the Jedi faction that starts the war? I'm not sure. But that was a nicely done implication.

Jet Nebula/Jeke Kerron was pretty awesome. He reminded me of Han Solo, obviously, but darker. I'm not sure what was there that kept calling to me, but...there was something about him that seemed ominous and important. I hope we see him again.

I could go on, but I'll stop there for now.

Did anyone else expect Jet Nebula (who I knew had something odd about him) to be Watcher 3? It would have been so ironic for him to have known who Ula was the whole time because he was talking to him, and also ironic in Ula's final scene to have him tell Nebula the entire story (even leaving out parts about Nebula) thinking it was Watcher 3. Still, there was something left unsaid about him, and I hope that the other TOR books somehow bring him in, though I don't know how closely these will be placed together, and if the authors are using the same characters. I always had the impression that the TOR books were standalone stories in this time period, not a collaborative effort to tell one story.

I didn't think about him being Watcher 3. I kept expecting him to reveal himself as a Mandalorian. Watcher 3 would make more sense.

Jet was going to be Watcher 3 and a Mando if not Mandalore himself!

I think the book left off on a good note to be able to continue the storyline with Shigar, Howl(goofy name) and Ax.

I thought the Hex's were an interesting idea.

Listing Stryver as a male, then flipping it at the end was interesting(but not very important either).

I thought it was a good job of making Ula likeable, even though he was a slimy double agent.

Larin was a good character I hope to see more of, kind of like some of the special ops people in the LOTF and Rebulica Commando books.

Overall, it was a pretty good book, but nothing too special. Right off the bat, I was a little annoyed at how Shigar brought Larin along on his mission. It's like, "I don't really know you (other than you're obviously hawt), but wanna come on a secret mission with me?" Very bone-headed on Shigar's part. From there it became a pretty fun book, remniscient of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest- each character forced to work together but each with their own agenda. The characters themselves were decent, they did what they needed to do. I cared about them, but I wouldn't shed any tears over them. I liked Eldon Ax and Ula Vii (I was rooting for him over Shigar- the classic underdog ). Then the book ended with a bang with a few well-written chapters.

I'd give it a 3/5.
