I agree 3D can be a gimmick, but some movies (Avatar, Toy Story 3, Guardians of Ga'Hoole, ect.) use it to add depth. If they change Star Wars to throw stuff at your face, then I wouldn't support it, but if they do it correctly, all the power to them. Very Happy

To be perfectly honest, I'm just thrilled to be able to go see star Wars in a full screen theater again. 3D or not it is just an awesome movie going experience.

Craziest thing, my Christian radio station today announced the Star Wars movies coming to 3D, and proceeded to talk about it for the next 30 minutes! Confused

I'll shell out the money to see it simply because the only one I saw in theaters was RotS.

That's funny! The Christian radio station here was talking about Celebration V last month, and one of the guys said they should rename Orlando to just Lando for the weekend... Laughing

I'm one of those that can't see 3D films (or stereo pictures), I have what is officially called "strabismus" in English apparently, so this is kind of "meh" for me personally, but it's good to see that Star Wars movies will now reach a new generation through actual movie theaters experience.

Yea, I hope they release a 2D version along with the 3D version...

I can't see 3D either. It makes the 3D craze even more irritating. Razz

It would be up in the air for me. After hearing bad things about last years Clash of the Titans and Last Airbender in 3D not looking that good, mainly with awkward shadows, I don't think it can be done too well going from 2D to 3D whereas other movies like Avatar were filmed in 3D and didn't look too bad (although it stood out greatly to me at first but once I was pulled into the story, I forgot about the 3D lol)

I've started to feel better about this release. I still think that 3D is a gimmick, and I wish they'd just re-release the films in 2D in theaters instead, if they HAVE to do a re-release. However, I'm accepting that this won't be a hasty conversion process, and the folks at ILM who rarely ever fail will be in control.

That's true. Although Avatar was planned and filmed in 3D, Clash of the Titans was really rushed into 3D. With over a year, I'm sure ILM can work their magic Wink

And, we don't know how long ILM has been working on this. Though, it would seem like they'll only have a year for the other films, they could have been working on TPM for at least 2 years already.

And I think the more recent ones would be easier, considering the computer aliens and all. You're making me very curious Laughing
