So...! Do you say snowballs, or snowcones? We say snowballs, and we always have. You cannot acquire a snowcone in south Louisiana. They do not exist. Padme is probably the only one who will back me up on this.

Apparently Louisiana is a strange place. Although...! You can get them in Mississippi, too. Cause we live near the border, and we can buy them in MS anytime. My mom also grew up in Douglas, GA, and they had snowballs, too.

But from asking around, I cannot find anyone else (outside of south LA) who calls them that. So...what do you call them?

And here are some photos, for proof. They were taken today, on a quick snowball trip. Smile

I have never heard of a snowball. At least not that kind of snowball.

Listen, y'all. We Louisianaians know several things that you dare not question. Beignets, seafood, and snowballs are among them.

Well, you don't know how to spell ya'll.

As a Southern, you should be ashamed. Razz

"Y'all", short for "you all". The "all" is left intact with the "you" shortened to a "y". Y'all. Wink

Indeed correct, Padme. Very well explained. "Ya'll" is a misused spelling of the word.

But speaking of snowballs, we received a third vote! And I have no idea who it would be from. Confused

I've only seen it as snowcones. I've never thought about it before but I would say your description for "snowcones" in the poll options is spot on as to why they aren't know as "snowballs" here in New York.

Oregon - it's Snowcones.

And yes, Hawaiian Shaved ice is also considered a snowcone even though it's called "Hawaiian Shaved ice" - and yes my favorite flavor IS Tigers Blood.....

You just had to say that didn't you? That was just too tempting (cure me and my sometimes cat like curiosity) to not do a Google/Urban Dictionary search. The results were...unpleasant. Thank you. I shall now go meditate on this lesson.
