Yeah, thanks, Rogue. You know saying that was no different than actually mentioning it. Except that you'd be forever banned from the forums. Wink

No can do. I just decided to leave the moderation that doesn't have to be done right away to the real mods. They never get to have their mod fun.

Take a look at the poll, Mara. With only two people here from the great country of France, I wonder who the third vote for option 1) was from.

Hey I'm just saying some say tamahto is wrong, I hear snowball and yell "NO THANK YOU"

I didn't make the verbiage. But I can see why Snowcone won out over here. We have snow, and it's in a cone.

I'm dead serious about the Hawaiian Shaved Ice- they get mad if you call it a snow cone or snowball, they see it as a whole different technique and thus style. But I'll tell ya- sure does taste the same.

Ah! See, down here, they don't come in cones. They come in styrofoam cups. So, why would we call them snowcones?

We are proud to be French! Wait a second...

Yeah, I know. I've been wondering who that third vote was, other than a misvote. *curious*

And yes, snowballs come in styrofoam cups around here. I've actually never seen one in a cone...

That's how the Hawaiian ones come- in either the Styrofoam cup or in a plastic flower type one.

For the most part ours are in the paper cones you get with water coolers. or larger (vendor depending)

I honestly thought they phased out the term snowballs for them due to that one thing.

I had figured that it was a word like the swastika- Hitler made sure no one will be using that for a symbol for Luck anymore. And due to pop culture it had become snowcones. I had no clue it was still called a snowball.

Well, they are on signs all over the South. I've never known any different.

Ahh I read up on it- a Snowball is a type like the Hawaiian- it's a shaved ice- and like the Hawaiians I can see why there is a major distinction.

See snowcones are balls of ice. Snowballs are the same as Hawaiian shaved ice. (practically the same; more so then Snowcones vs Snowballs.)

Has the South had much snow to know what a snowball is? (I'm not tryong to sound like a jerk- just pondering something) Cause if not I could see the definate appeal to the term snowball in that regard- for many Kids who have moved to Oregon form a hotter climate- seeing snow for the first time is magical and a snowball has a bit of power to itself. So I could see if it's not something you'd normally see that using that term to sell the ice would be a good gimmick.

I have no idea what a snowball, or snow cone is. The first time I ever saw one was in this thread. But could someone please tell me (in private) what this slang snowball thing is? If the word 'snow ball' exists over here, I've not seen it.

On another note, who calls the potato potahto? No one called it potahto until after that song came out! Come to think of it, no one called it potato before that song came out! Back then they were simply called Demon eggs. Yep. Demon eggs. Back in Nineteen dickety two. We had to say 'dickety' because the Jerries stole our word for Twenty...

@Rogue:

No, we very rarely have snow. For instance: The last time it snowed here was in 2008. And the time before that? 14 years prior. Confused

So the only things having anything to do with snow around here are the items pictured above. Smile
