Hello everyone,
I'm a dutch Star Wars fan that loves (almost) everything EU from the time they started taking continuity into account.
I have always been a huge fan of the movies and as I was born in the same year that ANH came out, I was practically raised on the OT.
But reading the SW-Marvels back then scared me out of the EU for years even though I did give them . ( I know I'm already hitting some peoples nerves right now, sorry ) I just didn't like them mostly because they didn't stick to the movies and because of the stories that just didn't feel like real SW stories to me.
I did read the Thrawn-trilogy way back en loved it but still didn't know how "official" it was.
As I was also a late blossomer when it comes to technology and as I was one of the last people on Earth to get internet and a game console, it took me quite a while before I figured out how the EU works.
It started after playing KOTOR I and learning of the Tales of the Jedi comics.
That got me reading Wookieepedia and learning of the way that continuity is maintained within the EU and ever since I was sold.
The internet also made the books and comics more available to me as they never really caught on here and the few bookshops in Holland that do sell them (Star Wars Fans are sparse here in the Netherlands and EU-fans are almost unfindable) do so only at high prizes. Now I just buy them online
I already joined the two dutch SW-forums, but as I said, real EU-fans are hard to be found.
Now after a few years of reading up on everything EU up to the Dark Nest trilogy (which I'm currently reading) I think the time is right for me to start discussing all things SW/EU with all you guys here and learn about your opinions on matters. (And share mine )
One last thing is that I'm a real in-universe fan and that I don't bother as much with what writers, actors or other Lucas employees do in real life as I do with what happens to all the characters in the stories and how this shapes the stories to come. I found that for me I enjoy the EU better if I focus on the creations (books, comics, novels, movies) than on the creators.
That way I can imagine the SW galaxy as a real place better.
What I mean too say is that you shouldn't be surprised if I don't know a lot about people like writers and actors except for their name (and sometimes not even that).
I'm gonna stop typing now before my introduction turns into a biography.
So again I want to say hello everyone here and see you all on the rest of the forum! _________________ "Strong you are with the dark side, young one. But not that strong.
