I wonder if the Hand of Judgement is working with Mara Jade, which the blurb seems to suggest, or if they're doing some vigilante justice. I'm pretty psyched about this, I think I was one of the few people that liked Allegiance. And with a "treacherous game of betrayals within betrayals," I'm hoping for some byzantine maneuvering à la Specter of the Past and Vision of the Future.
I can't find any information about the Candoras sector. Wookieepedia doesn't have an entry for it, and I cannot locate it in either the Outer Rim or Mid Rim maps in the Essential Atlas Online Companion. I'd be inclined to believe that the "wild card" is either Karrde or Thrawn. Zahn has mentioned writing about Thrawn recruiting the Hand of Judgement, but of course "wild card" suggests Karrde. I suspect juggling Karrde, Jade, and the Big 3 without any of them meeting each other would be pretty difficult, whereas I can easily believe that Mara Jade could meet Thrawn.
I wish the book was set later in the timeline. More Lando can't hurt, especially if Karrde is in it. I like seeing the underworld characters interact. _________________ "Trust not the words of a poet, as he is born to seduce. Yet for poetry to seize the heart, it must ring with the chimes of truth.”
