This is the official spoiler discussion for all issues of Jedi - The Dark Side. We ask that you use the spoiler tag for a week after each issue is released. After that, you can discuss spoilers without the tag.

I enjoyed the first issue greatly. I was afraid that it wouldn't live up to the picture I had of these characters, but it did a pretty decent job.

Quick question:

Do you guys think that the other Knight that was dueling Qui-Gon and Xanatos (whose name I can't remember) was Qui-Gon's first apprentice? Whose identity we knew about from random databank entries (plus the fact that he was a Master, despite not having finished training Xanatos or Obi-Wan), but we had no idea how s/he was?

Could it be that guy?

It seems very possible. Their conversation certainly seems like one between a Master and his former apprentice, rather than just two good friends.

I think you are right on target, but I'm going to try to get confirmation.

Well Taral, I asked and received. I took the question to writer Scott Allie on Twitter. He responded: "Yes, Feemor is Qui-Gon's first padawan."

There you have it. I think Wookieepedia needs some updates. Wink

This series will continue after the five issue "The Dark Side" arc. Thoughts?

SIIIIICK!!!

Also- Tahl mark's the first time for a physical appearance of the Noorian species- ever!

As for the continuation of the story- I figured this when I read Randy's Dark Sidebar in the back-

when he said "a series that would focus on the era before Episode I: The Phantom Menace"

and

"Imagine our surprise when we discovered that, except for portions of the story being told in these first five issues, Master Gui-Gon Jinn's life during this period was a blank slate!"

Which made me pause. For the events in this tale are a FLASH BACK... sure that RIGHT after this flashback we don't have anything for Qui-Gon until the Jedi Apprentice series- but the Jedi Apprentice series LEADS UP TO TPM- so that's not quite a BLANK SLATE. Then I noticed those words THESE FIRST FIVE ISSUES> 1st 5? Implying more to come... which if I then figure the series will follow from the flashbacks set forth in Jedi Apprentice, and continue till Obi-wan's part of the story comes in. Which is 44 BBY and TPM starts 32 BBY. So one can't quite say that Qui-goin's life in thios time frame is a blank slate.....

But these are those playing with words that they do. Cause this series will never LEAD into TPM as a BLANK SLATE. Jedi Apprentice has already tread THAT time frame Randy, you crafty man you. Laughing

Well, it depends on how you define 'this period'. If you define it as a period of 5-10 years, then sure, he's got a largish period that is a blank slate. The Jedi Apprentice series is around 44 BBY, correct? And this series is *pops off to check* set in 53 BBY - so nine whole years in which to play around with. sounds like a blank slate to me Wink

Yes I agree with how you say it Life, but the comic implied that this entire era "A SERIES THAT WOULD FOCUS ON THE ERA before Episode one."

They play with the term ERA too often. I mean technically the Era BEFORE TPM Would be the Sith Era....

And a blank slate to me wouldn't have stories set in it. Yes I am looking at it too hard, but it's what I do Laughing

I love a good irony!
