Playing the hand that we've been dealt (id est, accepting JINO for what he is), it would have been better if Jacen survived LOTF and fulfilled this role at the end of Apocalypse, as it would carry substantially more weight than a character introduced in the series. And it would be better than his death in Invincible.
And it would have worked either way, if he escaped and was still a self-proclaimed Dark Lord of the Sith doing this for the galaxy and his daughter, or if he had been redeemed and was a man seeking true redemption for his past deeds.
