Speaking of Apple, saw this on Attack of the Show the other day: http://www.newsmax.com/US/Apple-iPhone-Concert-videos/2011/06/17/id/400445

Basically, Apple is working with concert halls to set up equipment that will disable the video cameras on iPhones, to ensure that nobody films the concerts.

You've gone too far, Apple. You've sold me technology and then set up the means to prevent me from using it.

...or is this just being forward-thinking? A kill-switch, lest a network of iPhones and iPads somehow becomes sapient? Maybe they've done the math, and determined that once the networks are all 5-6G, it would be feasible?

I don't see networks surpassing 4G for a long time, unless the carriers start using 5G and 6G as marketing terms, since technically the networks aren't truly 4G right now. It's not until they average 1 GBPS data speeds that they're truly 4G. Though the ITU later caved to the carriers and said they could label networks capable of eventually achieving that speed as 4G. Though honestly the only one that really meets that is Verizon's LTE network; T-Mobile just labeled their "3.5G" HSPA+ network as 4G which resulted in AT&T whining about it to the ITU, and now a year later AT&T is calling their HSPA+ network 4G as well. Which will be interesting when they roll out their LTE network, because the phones they're selling as "4G" phones like the Infuse and the Atrix won't be able to use the LTE networks; they only have HSPA+ antennas. I'd also heard that due to some software bug or limiter, their 4G network is slower than their 3G network, but that may have been corrected.

I'd also heard that people whom took their iPhones for repair to Apple would receive the phone back with the Phillips screws replaced with proprietary screws that wouldn't allow the customer to open the device themselves.

Dream, I honestly didn't know that "#G" actually referred to something physical. I assumed it was all marketing terms. "4G!!!! THIS TIME IT'S FASTER THAN 3G!!!!!!!!!!! YOUR IPHONE 3GS IS NOW A PAPERWEIGHT!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

I learned something new! And knowing is half the battle!

That is so weird....I'm torn between being slightly creeped out and wanting to be part of Harry's glasses.

Sadly, you don't get to choose where, but I did it because, well, how often do you get to do something like that?

History in the making today as the final space shuttle mission, STS-135, lifted off from Cape Canaveral, Florida. Atlantis flies the final mission.

Surely this counts as random. I am particularly...interested in the following three actors. *ahem*

I liked all of them separately, and only stopped today to realize that they all look exactly alike!

Well...for the most part. Very Happy

Broaden your horizons, Mara! Wink

Why can't more people look like young Harrison Ford, anyway?

Glad you like it. Smile
My favourite part was the epic panning shot.
