Man, I wish Stackpole was writing this. |
Really? I liked Stackpole's books, but I adored Allston's X-Wing installments. |
Maybe it's just a nostalgia thing, but Stackpole's were some of the first EU books I read growing up, and they pulled me into the story in a way that no other story has since. Great mix of awesome space battles, fantastic villains and super surprising twists that I never saw coming. Plus, Stackpole writing the book would guarantee an appearance by Rogue Squadron, and I've always preferred them to Wraith Squadron.
To be honest, I don't really remember much about the Wraith books, except that I dug the first three quite a bit. I dunno, I just didn't like "Starfighters of Adumar." And that was the last one he wrote. I'm hoping that with a big cast and some great space battles, it'll be a sweet return to form! |
I gotcha, Starfighter of Adumar was on a much smaller scale than the rest of the X-Wing books, but I enjoyed it for the humor and the fact that more time was devoted to a smaller set of characters. I really liked Stackpole's entries to the X-Wing series, but I have a special fondness for the Wraiths because their books were the first Star Wars novels that made me laugh. _________________ All things die, Anakin Skywalker, even stars burn out.
