Taral-DLOS EUC Staff Joined: 23 Nov 2010 Posts: 1259 Location: Ontario, Canada Hi Nathan, I'm listening to The EU Review #18 right now, and I'm loving it. Your FAQ on Ebooks is really cool and informative. But I should note that there are indeed more than just "Kindle, Nook, iPad, and a variety of smartphones" for eReading. Sony has a massive line of ebook readers that, to my knowledge, read EPUB-format files as well as the Nook. Also, I'd like to share the fact that the Nook is unavailable in Canada. Instead, we have the Kobo, which is associated with Indigo Books and Music Company (which owns almost every bookstore in Canada, like Chapters, Coles, Smithbooks, etc.) My mother has one and she loves it. We have the Kindle too, but it uses Amazon.com instead of Amazon.ca. My sister-in-law has one and she loves that. But yes: Canadian readers have the Kobo instead of the Nook, but I fully recommend it. I don't e-read myself, except for reading some free books off the computer, but that's only because I like owning books, seeing them on the shelf, and holding them in my hands. _________________ It was the year of fire… the year of destruction… the year we took back what was ours. VileZero Master Joined: 21 Mar 2010 Posts: 816 Location: Maryland The U.S. has the Kobo too, actually. Over here, it was the e-Reader pushed by Borders. Given that they just went completely out of business, I suppose that's why many here are either unfamiliar with it, or seem to think it is due to die with Borders. I didn't know they were tied to so many other stores, though!

Something just occurred to me: a lot of podcasts I listen to (granted, they're technically radio shows turned into podcasts, so are limited by the timeslot) have extra information in the shownotes, in case there was additional information that could not be conveyed. It was almost like a small tie-in blog. And they'd end some segments with "For more information, check out the shownotes." That way, if there was other relevant information, you could still post it for others to see. Just an idea. @VileZero: I actually did not know that. Cool. Shame about Borders though. I agree with your points about Galaxies: The Ruins of Dantooine. I personally didn't get the impression of random-encounters-with-wildlife (I just didn't notice), but I did get other RPG vibes from it. Specifically, how it seemed everything the characters did was like a fetch mission. Those can be annoying even in an RPG, much less a book. But yes, enjoyed the show.
