Well, I might be able to deal with a Tarantino remake if Obi-Wan was played by George Clooney.

But somehow I can't see Juliette Lewis as Padme.

Quentin would have to play Qui Gon.

Anakin: Padmé, look at me a sec? I need to try something.

Padmé: What is it, Ani?

Anakin: Look into my eyes, Look into my eyes, the eyes, the eyes, not around the eyes, don't look around the eyes, Look into my eyes *snaps fingers* You're under. *Padmé falls asleep, still standing.* You love me. You love me despite all of the irritating things that I do. You love me so much you can't live with out me. Three-two-one *snaps fingers* You're back in the room.

*Padmé wakes up, suddenly feels attracted to Anakin.*

Also, it explains why Padmé dies in ROTS. Anakin ceases to exist, and her hypnotic programming kills her.

It fits so well! Wow...it all makes sense now. How disturbing. Confused

If this discussion goes much longer, I may just bash my head against a brick wall. Wink

Well AotC has officially replaced TPM as my least favourite of the Saga. I re-watched both and, though AotC was more entertaining overall, I think it was the major misstep of the PT.

This should have been the movie where Anakin rises up to be a hero with hints of a darkness beneath foreshadowing his fall in the next movie (but nothing so extreme as the Tusken camp scene). Basically, we should have gotten TCW Anakin. Instead we get Anakin being a whiny creeper who massacres an entire village and doesn't save the day at the end. A very wrong thing at a very wrong time.

As for the romance... after watching it this time, I think Lucas was actually close to something good. It does make sense for Anakin to be awkward around Padme. He's basically a monk. Rather than trying to be all melodramatic and failing miserably, they should have intentionally made Anakin awkward and approached it with humour. Think about it. The "I hate sand" scene would have been gold if it was actually supposed to be funny! It would have made Anakin more likeable and would have helped the movie tremendously. Things can be humourous and still be emotionally resonating.

@Reep: Agree completely. That one has always been my least favorite. When I was younger I felt awkward watching it. It was like two people who weren't happy together trying to force something and it made me squirm. Now that I'm older I know it is definitely the script, but it still pains me the most. The dialogue is painful to listen to, and the eerie 'turned on by fear' vibe I get is actually insanely sexist and twisted.

^ Padme looks extremely uncomfortable during the infamous fireplace scene... which always makes me feel uncomfortable. The worst is when Anakin admits to massacring men, women, and children and instead of running in terror, she goes down to comfort him. The poor, tortured bad boy. Rolling Eyes

Funny thing though. As much as I complain about this movie, I still end up thoroughly enjoying it. What can I say? I'm a sucker for Star Wars...

The prequels are like ugly children. It's just wrong to try to pick which one is the ugliest.

^ For the record I thought RotS was great. The other two certainly have their issues, but they're not nearly as bad as they're made out to be. I always enjoy them when I watch them.

My fiance is a true OT fan. But he has never seen the PT. Recently he asked when we could watch them together. I froze in true horror of the prospect...I'm currently still managing a non-response...

If you are to watch them with him, I would start with RotS, then work backward and have him slowly grow more disappointed with the PT.

Haha this is kind of hilarious. Start your marriage off right, go OT. Make sure the shameful secret that is the PT is out of the way before the nuptials.
