Speaking of Han, Invasion writer Tom Taylor posted this on his Facebook page:

Quote:
Han still shoots first in the new Star Wars Blu-Ray but, afterward, Han now cradles Greedo lovingly and sings him a soft Rodian lullaby as a single CGI tear falls from his face and lands with a barely audible splash on the Cantina floor. It's beautiful.

And then followed up with:

Quote:
And the sound that CGI tear makes-- as it rolls down Solo's face, falls from his stubbled chin, and hangs above Greedo's body for just one single, perfect moment in the air, reflecting Tatooine's harsh desert light across a room of scum and villainy, softening the hardest of hearts and minds--can you hear the sound of that tear? It's almost as if... yes.... a TEAR is crying.
The CGI tear is crying for Greedo.

This just made me laugh really hard.

I seem to recall another one where he suggested that Hayden Christensen replaced Sebastian Shaw in the removed-the-mask scene, and Jake Lloyd replacing Hayden Christensen at the Ewok party.

Win.

A funny take on the Blu Ray changes. FYI there is a bit of "adult" language at about 2:00-2:05.

I liked the first "No...", but the second "NOOOOOOOO!" was quite unnecessary. Otherwise, I'm really indifferent. I'm still buying the blu-rays, going to CVI, and viewing the 3D movies.

At Walmart, televisions playing a clip from Empire Strikes Back. But I'm passing on this; I'm too happy with my original DVDs Smile

I wonder if the prequels leaked out yet. I stopped paying attention when the threads on blu-ray and home theater forums filled up with whining and no new information. I am still curious if my Maul theory is true.

Best version.

Overall responses to the changes I've seen:

-Krayt Dragon: BOO! It sounds like Jar-Jar barfing! Confused
-Vader saying "NOOOOOO!": Eh... The second yell ruined it for me.
-Dug in Jabba's Palace: Great!
-Han Solo released from carbonite: Didn't really notice a major difference besides the "rays".
-Jabba's door: Didn't understand why they did that, but okay...
-CGI Yoda in TPM: YES!!!! :D
-Re-colored Jabba in TPM: Indifferent.
-Luke's lightsaber construction: Would have answered a big question I had when I was younger! Laughing
-Re-done lightsabers: Okay in some scenes.
-Greedo STILL shooting first: Actually makes it seem that Han would have shot first anyway, which kinda restores his theatrical personality I guess...

I really like the Obi-wan - Yoda scene. A lot of scenes with CGI characters have lines of sight that don't match up. This, and Obi-Wan's line of sight, for obvious reasons, do match up, and that I'm very pleased with. It's only a minor thing, but thought it worth mentioning. I'm wondering if it was very difficult, to replace the puppet, because if not then it might be something other movies take on board. I'd certainly hope so.

Very impressed with CGI Yoda at the funeral. That was a hard lighting situation to pull off, but it almost looks like Yoda's face as it was lit up by his fire on Dagobah. I'm not sure what it is, but Yoda in that scene looks the more like OT puppet Yoda than any other CGI version we've seen yet. Something about the fullness of his face, the lighting on his head...

Yes, this is probably the best CGI Yoda we've seen. Last time we saw one was 6 years ago, though, which is a long time, technologically-speaking... Razz

Bravo on the new CGI Yoda! Very Happy (Anyone know if the OT Yoda will be replaced?) The Ewok eyes look better now that I've seen it in motion. The Vader yell still makes me impersonate the very scene though. Wink
